Here’s what you need to know on how to open St. George’s Chest in The Stone of Madness

St. George's Chests will be encountered in your journey through The Stone of Madness, and these will not function in the same way that the locked items in-game work. Unlike common chests, in which a key will suffice, these types of chests will function when a Dagger of St. George is utilized, a one-use artifact that will shatter when utilized.
In this article, I will cover earning access to the dagger, when precisely to use it to open the chest, and the kind of treasures in store when opening it.
How to Get a Dagger of St. George
A Dagger of St. George will suffice in opening the box, but getting one isn't necessarily simple. There are two principal avenues to getting one. First, it can drop via loot, but not necessarily at will; sometimes, when wandering about, a crate can have a chance at having a dagger in it. That, of course, isn't an assured opportunity and, therefore, not a sound path, but one worth a shot at least.
The safer and secondary path is purchasing one from a specific vendor for 150 coins. In case your coins fall a little short, sell unnecessary items to a guard at nighttime in a bid to make enough for the purchase. Because a single use of a dagger will shatter it, a new St. George's Chest will have to be obtained for each one.
The Best Time to Open the Chest
Even with a dagger in your hands, at no stage can you gain access to St. George's Chest. For most of your gaming, your chest will be locked and can only ever be unlocked at midnight to the minute. To gain access, simply continue gaming, and when a message informs you that you can no longer search and must return to your cell, press out of it.
By then, your character will have access to the chest and can use your dagger to gain access to it. Timing is critical, and failure at your narrow window will mean having to attempt again at a following in-game evening.
What is in St. George's Chest
Not necessarily grand, but St. George's Chest reward can have a range of utility. Perhaps one of its most ubiquitous items is a collection of Knowledge Notes, bestowing your character with knowledge points with which to buy new powers or gain new information. There can sometimes be a Fishing Hook, with added melee skill, and your character will steal with ease off enemies. As insignificant as these accolades can at first appear, they can have a significant impact on working your way through your game.
Finally…
Opening a St. George's Chest in The Stone of Madness takes planning and careful timing. To start, you will have to have St. George's Dagger through random loot or bought off a merchant beforehand. Once in your hands, you will have to wait till midnight in order to access the chest by canceling out your return to the cell command. Whatever loot is in store for your character will not necessarily make a big impact, but the melee-improving items and knowledge points can make your character a little more effective.
