Way too many AVN games have been added to the Steam library this year, and while many of them are new seasons of previously published games, some new titles are starting their first season. Since a huge number of these games are on Early Access, I decided to make a list of the top AVN games on Early Access if you're interested in checking them out.
Attention! If you are not at least 18 years old, you should not even consider purchasing the games mentioned here. They are only for adults. This page also contains material that some may find inappropriate owing to its explicit nature.
Come Right Inn - Season 1
Come Right Inn tells a story of a hotel where your sister was an employee until she disappeared six months ago without a trace. Your mission now is to piece together the mystery and learn the truth about what happened. It seemed like another one of those typical visual novels, but my opinion changed the moment I started the game. Despite my general aversion to playing adult video games, I've logged many hours into this one.
The plot is undoubtedly one of the finest of all the games I've played lately or up to this point. A lot of work went into developing and voice-acting each of the characters. What surprised me was that the game was developed by a single person, except for the voice actors and actresses.
Those who have worked in the hotel industry would surely find each conversation in the game realistic, which reflects the amount of work and research behind the scripts. The developer clearly did their homework on the hotel business, as seen by every line of speech and story aspect. An additional plus of this game is the engaging interactions. In contrast to most games, you won't skip conversations; instead, you'll listen closely to each one, not just to understand the plot but they are fun and realistic.
This game is fantastic, and you should play it if you're old enough. Even if it weren't labeled for older gamers, it would still be a top option because of its brilliant story, charming characters, and smart conversations. The game is still in Early Access, but it's worth checking.
Tune in to the show
Tune in to the Show does an excellent job of capturing the spirit of Visual Novels by nicely combining narrative with interesting character encounters. The game is set in a reality TV setting with seven characters, each with their unique history and eccentricities, that challenge you to be on your toes as you solve mysteries and manage romantic relationships.
The game's idea is simple yet executed smoothly. I also think the story's building, which is a TV program, is really creative. However, since the game is still in Early Access, at this point, the plot just portrays it as a usual dating program. As soon as you hit play, an infectiously positive energy fills the air, setting the tone for a carefree but exciting adventure across its universe.
While the character designs and visuals are generally high-quality, there is still space for development in the animations. The gorgeous female models who play the characters give each steamy meeting an air of refined elegance, and the visual flair is impressive. The narrative is clever, entertaining, and fast-paced. With the game's abundance of material, you'll never be bored or bored with everything there is to see and do.
Long Story Short
Long Story Short is surely among the quality visual novel games currently available. The richness of the game is made better by the distinct personalities and narratives of each character. While it takes a bit of time at the beginning, the game soon puts you on an engaging journey of emotional development as you meet and interact with different characters and decide to follow certain paths to see how your decisions affect the story's progression. To keep things interesting, the game's many pathways and routes make it easy to return to it and encourage the exploration of all the alternatives.
Long Story Short stays away from the typical player interaction loops seen in the like genre. The beautiful animations and renderings of the game are the first thing that catches the eye. The visual design is well made, adding to the realism when playing. Most of the game’s character models are beautifully designed with nice animations, but the lack of voice acting and sound effects detracts from an otherwise fantastic experience, which I hope the developers will include during the final release.
Although it is still in Early Access, the game's quality compared to other visual novels is much higher as an interesting new dimension of freedom is introduced when you can basically pursue whoever you want. You can interact with a diverse group of personalities and encounter a variety of plot twists and conclusions as you go through the game. Your connections with individuals and the storyline are heavily influenced by the decisions you make during the game.
Rebel Duet
Rebel Duet is an AVN take on the classic Isekai plot point, where a succubus brings the protagonist to a magical medieval realm. The game is an isekai lover's fantasy come true. It's an engaging visual novel with an absorbing narrative that places you in the world of a protagonist (male or female), where you'll not only experience romance but also transform into a powerful weapon.
The game's training mechanism is particularly noteworthy. The objective of this mechanism is to improve your succubus companion's skills as you level up, which opens up new possibilities. This concept completely transforms the gameplay by giving you a sense that your decisions and efforts matter. An additional wonderful detail that aids immersion in this mysterious universe is the in-game vocabulary, which expands as you go through the game.
On a visual level, Rebel Duet is excellent. The incredible lifelike and, at times, the 3D renderings do a fantastic job of bringing the game's settings and residents to life. All of the animations, particularly romance scenes and important plot events, are rendered in 4K, which gives the impression of amazing clarity and fluidity. The game is still in Early Access, but it already shows promise of a great game.
MILFs of Sunville - Season 2
MILFs of Sunville - Season 2 brings you back to the little town of Sunville, where you escape the hectic pace of city life to cope with the hardships of a rural university. You continue from where Season 1 left off, repairing relationships with Sophie and receiving help from friends like Daisy.
At its core, the game's Rabbit/Mouse mechanism is still there, letting you direct interactions that further personalize the narrative. Aside from the Rabbit/Mouse morality system, which lets players create their CGs depending on their decisions, the plot is improved with new characters and deeper interactions.
Those who enjoyed Season 1 will have a blast trying to figure out all the interconnected connections and how they work. MILFs of Sunville are already rich with content and activities, and now it adds more detailed 3D visuals and animations.
B.E.S.T
The quality of an AVN can be somewhat unpredictable, but all signs of B.E.S.T. point to this one being an incredible one. With its story, the game manages to keep things easygoing despite the high stakes and a gripping plot full of unexpected turns. Every choice seems like a major shift in the game, and you'll want to jump back in to see how everything turns out since it's so intriguing. As soon as you step into its universe, you'll be confronted with a multitude of decisions that might shape your character's and others' destinies in many ways. The story develops as you face dramatic trials, giving you the choice to side with your friends or turn your backs on them, all in the name of achieving the ultimate goal: to become the greatest.
The art in visual novels is crucial, and B.E.S.T. does an outstanding job in this regard. Every one of the characters has a distinct and beautiful design that really brings them to life. As is often the case in works of this type, the female characters are well portrayed, striking a good mix between beauty and appeal. The score harmonizes with the mood quite well, going from lighthearted to dramatic and romantic when the situation calls for it. The setting is well done and conveys the spirit of college flawlessly; the animations in a few situations are a wonderful bonus.
B.E.S.T. clearly stands out among visual novels. Even though it's still in Early Access, new content is introduced with regular updates. If you cherish a good story more than anything else, you'll appreciate the new option to bypass the minigames and go straight to the story. The script's masterful weaving of humor and suspense ensures that you won't be able to tear yourself away from the screen. There is more nuance to the ties between the female characters since the ways they act complement their charming and different characteristics. There are so many possible endings, so you may play the game over and over again.
WANDERER: Broken Bed
WANDERER: Broken Bed is a fun hentai adventure game that combines aspects of dating simulations, point-and-click gameplay, and role-playing features. The plot develops in a magical universe full of colorful adventures, making it particularly appropriate for those who like hentai and role-playing games. The game provides an engaging experience with the help of a card-collecting system based on battles.
The creative minds behind it are undoubtedly talented; they should channel their efforts wisely. A lot of work went into the animations and graphics. Animated characters often undergo minute changes, such as those to their hair, bodies, and clothing. A lot of work went into depicting the characters' looks, particularly their hairstyles.
Apart from the usual features, the game also features a card-based combat feature using a "card battler" style. Basically, the deck, the hand, and the action points are all relatively conventional. These combat scenarios aren't too difficult, and given that the game is still on Early Access, it's apparent that there is still some work left to be done.
Parasite Black
Parasite Black is a D&D RPG set in a dark fantasy setting. It offers an engaging narrative filled with obstacles and nice visuals. The game's ability to immerse you in its story and adventures will surprise you. You are thrust into this warped reality as a gifted person and are compelled to make difficult decisions. The game has an abundance of pathways for you to choose from, which lets you indulge in many different relationships.
The game's quality is enhanced by its captivating story, high-quality artwork that showcases meticulous attention to detail, and thoughtfully utilized sound effects. Together with this, you get a plethora of beautifully drawn characters that are spot-on for the game's concept. With a large cast of playable characters and beautifully rendered illustrations for their conversation and environments, this game is a visual feast. Impressive use of a 2D style, which is unusual for games of this genre. All of the females appear really lovely, and their unique body types are the most striking features, while each one of them is well-portrayed in high-quality scenes.
Novaras, the capital and the city, has several locations you must visit, including stores, a blacksmith, and a pub. Every one of the game's backdrops is meticulously hand-drawn. You will undoubtedly be pleased with this 2D art, especially given the amount of locales in the game. The details are well-explained. Despite its complexity, Parasite Black will never grow old, unlike other games in the genre. If you're looking for a darker, adult-themed role-playing game, you may want to give this one a try despite its potentially off-putting themes and visual violence.
