Top Adult Visual Novels of 2024 on Steam

Steam is seeing a sudden increase in the number of AVN games, as this subgenre stands out because of Steam's low prices and extensive library of titles. Although Steam offers tens of thousands of titles, many players are misled into thinking they receive more than they pay for. Finding a good AVN requires some effort because several of these games are bombarded with fake positive reviews. As always, I went into a lengthy adventure playing all the latest titles that came out and compiled a list of the top AVN games if you're interested in checking them out.

Projekt: Passion - Season 1

Projekt Passion turned out to be the most fulfilling experience among the AVN games I've recently played, and it's exceptional in more ways than one, setting it apart from other comparable titles. To put aside the obvious explicit components, the game has been a fantastic experience with a captivating story that I found impossible to put down. Its gripping narrative with likable characters makes you care about what happens to them. It has some of the most fantastic writing I've ever seen, stunning graphics, and gorgeous, fluid animations.

Another thing that stands out is the game's animation. The visuals are sharp, tidy, and well done, improving the experience throughout. I was impressed by the quality of the game since I hadn't noticed any glitches or weird animations. The animation alone, with excellent voice acting and stunning photography, makes most of the sequences worthwhile. Most of these segments are fantastic animated sequences with superb jiggle mechanics and well-drawn viewpoints. All the characters in the game seemed real and remarkable, with unique characteristics and compelling backstories; each one is full of detail and variety.

There is a natural flow to how individual narratives connect to the main storyline, making for a fascinating story. The game has a lot of fun moments, including action sequences, comedic moments, and a great deal of romantic encounters, as well as some darker themes. The length isn't ideal, but the high-quality renderings and sometimes extended animated sequences more than compensate. The plot leaves a few significant plots unsolved, which are obviously going to be a part of Chapter 2.

The Seven Realms: High Lathión

The Seven Realms: High Lathión is the third chapter of the Seven Realms trilogy, a unique and engaging fantasy game that sets itself apart with its well-developed plot, complex characters, and interactive storytelling. This chapter continues the story from the first two chapters, Realm 1: Terran and Realm 2: Pythonium, and adds more to the narrative with many subplots. What makes this game truly unique is the ability to make choices that can be kind or brutal, affecting the game's narratives. This narrative will captivate you from beginning to end. All of the characters are fantastic, with interesting histories, distinct personalities, and, most importantly, a genuine sense of self.

The Seven Realms: High Lathión isn't like the other AVNs because your interactions with other characters are essential to progress the story to its many decisions. So, even if you haven't played the first two chapters, you can still learn about all the characters' backstories and make decisions that will affect later chapters through a summary at the beginning of this game. Although this chapter only offers a handful of major options, they are meaningful and typically influenced by events in previous chapters. The game's Recap feature allows you to go back and change your choices from the past, so you can unlock and go back into the plot if you overlooked an opportunity, ensuring you don't miss any part of the narrative.

Just like the previous two chapters, High Lathión's visuals are incredible, and the animations are really top-notch. Everything about the cinematics is pleasant as they flow together seamlessly. The animated sequences have several camera perspectives, and the elven realm is really realistic. While the game is all enjoyable, you do get the feeling that the romance is missing in some parts of the story, and the relationships seem hurried in later phases. So, you might opt for more consequential choices after this episode, while you'll understand the premise lays the basis for new alternatives in future episodes.

The Lust City 2

The Lust City was among the top games of last year; as you went further into the plot, the game would engross you in a gripping world of mystery and unexpected twists. Characters in the game were drawn nicely, and the adventure built the game's richness. In the same vein, The Lust City 2 continues the adventure in a mysterious jungle where, as the leader of your crew, you explore different locations in search of artifacts and the mysteries of a long-lost culture.

The Lust City 2 is a refreshingly original take on the open-world adventure genre that skillfully incorporates mature themes. Among most of the game's main heroines, Arya is really appealing and likable. Both the graphics and the plot are attractive, and the narrative immerses you in a fantasy universe. The developers have poured a lot of effort into making each scenario seem natural. Art, narrative, and music all come together flawlessly! The distinctive tone of the game draws you from the get-go. You consider the consequences of your choices—no matter how minor—in light of what's to come.

Lilith Rising - Season 2

Lilith Rising - Season 2 lives up to the quality of Season 1, where you join your loyal allies on a dangerous journey to reclaim your country as the exiled prince. Even though the game features a rather linear game, choices don't affect anything beyond the sequence in which you collect achievements; Season 2 features a better plot, engaging conversations, and fantastic characters.

In terms of content, Lilith Rising - Season 2 goes further than the previous installment, featuring more episodes and several beautifully rendered moments. The narrative is compelling because it effectively mixes fantasy drama with the human connections you develop along your journey. You may go on adventures to different locations and different quests with your companions. The overall story is structured continuously, with the completion of each companion's mission being crucial to the progression of the story.

However, rather than serving as a complete story arc in its own right, Season 2 seems to be laying the groundwork for Season 3. Playing it is fun, but some players may feel like bystanders to their journey due to the absence of major plot twists and important decisions. It would be difficult for a player to dislike any of the game's female characters since they are all stunningly attractive. The scenery and animations are also really amazing. However, I feel that the scenes are too short, and the lack of diversity makes them repetitive. Season 2 was entertaining, although I wished there was more plotline amongst each adventure.

Slaves of Rome

First of all, Slave of Rome isn’t an AVN game, but I’m including it in this list because it is a unique take on the adult games genre. It engages you on a daring adventure across ancient Rome while you manage the dynamics of master-slave exchanges. Its narrative variety and settings will immediately immerse you into a Roman world where you perform different types of activities.

The story of Slave of Rome is shaped by your decisions, so every playthrough is different than the other, depending on how you manage your social status. This is heavily influenced by the decisions you make when embarking on different quests, which also influences your character's social growth and the ending of each objective. It's not only about your character, but every slave also has a predetermined backstory, and how you treat them now will determine their fate. The game has only one conclusion, but you may make it more interesting and fun to play again and again by taking on the role of a good or evil master.

An exciting and thought-provoking game, Slave of Rome delves into the sinister underbelly of ancient Rome in a way that no other game has. Adults who like games with a mix of strategy and explicit material will find it to be an appealing option. While the graphics aren't the finest in the genre, its realistic Roman backdrop provides a welcome change from usual visual novels. Character customization and the inclusion of different endings may need some work, but the game does a great job diving deep into the sinister depths of ancient Rome, and it will provide you with a deep and thought-provoking experience with its many paths.

An Evening of Wonders

An Evening of Wonders is a brief and simple visual novel about relationships and a visual treat. It's a choice-based adventure, and you'll be engrossed from the very beginning as you maneuver between the complexities of a birthday celebration and the attraction of a beautiful stranger. Your decisions greatly affect the story's ending, making it an exciting and engaging adventure.

Despite its brief narrative, the game is surprisingly engaging due to its atmosphere and a few amusing moments. In addition, there are a plethora of options, ranging from a bad or good ending. Featuring visually appealing and diverse female models, An Evening of Wonders is a game that doesn't demand much of your time. The well-animated scenes are a visual delight and are bound to make an impact. However, in some cases, the options don't matter because you only get a shot with one, depending on your choices.

If you're looking for a quick AVN with beautiful visuals, An Evening of Wonders is a perfect choice. Just be patient and wait for a sale, as you can finish the game and unlock all the achievements in just an hour. Despite the game's brief length, its replay value is high, as the different outcomes of your choices provide a great way to reward players for reaching certain goals.

Lyndaria: Lust Adventure

Lyndaria: Lust Adventure puts you in the shoes of Maya while she spends much of her time on the island interacting with the furry individuals, trying to make friends, complete tasks, and resolve tribal disputes. The game delivers an intricate mix of story pathways and sensual material while incorporating RPG mechanics with AVN style. Although it borrows features from dating simulators and RPG games, it's primarily a Sandbox VN where you make choices in order to progress the story.

The game's plot is compelling, and there are many ways to reach the finish, so it's worth replaying a few times to unlock a different outcome each time. To begin with, there are a plethora of important options that impact the storyline. The artwork in the game is just stunning, and every character is vivid and interesting. The game has a cast of memorable characters and an interesting fantasy setting, while its mechanics are straightforward.

Lyndaria: Lust Adventure stands out with its unique characteristics, offering superior gameplay compared to others. The game also has certain RPG features, such as the ability for Maya's attributes to change depending on your choices, and it was fun dressing Maya in clothing from the island's many tribes. The game hooked me despite my usual dislike of furry media; the characters were well-developed and customizable, and the sensual moments were beautifully animated.

The DeLuca Family - Season 1

The DeLuca Family - Season 1 isn't quite what you may expect since the game puts you in for a wild journey and a rewarding experience with three playable modes—a text-based traditional RPG, a visual novel, and a choices-driven story. It's unlike most of the AVN that I've played, and if you're expecting a genuine AVN, you'll be let down by this game despite the fact that it contains mature content in the latter stages. While it may not fit the traditional AVN mold, it's a complex mafia fiction with all the plot twists and turns and mature content that serves to highlight the flip side of being human.

The DeLuca Family's narrative twists and turns are simply intriguing, although I did find myself losing curiosity about the latter, more prolonged situations at the conclusion of certain chapters. It's probably because we aren't used to such prolonged AVN games. The massive scale of the game is partially to blame for that reason. As the story progressed and more people were added, it became easy to slowly lose interest due to the large number of families and individuals represented. You can, however, skip over some unpleasant sections if you don't want to, but if you have the patience, you'll find the character development simply superb. Otherwise, there are also a lot of notions and challenges that remain unsolved if you skip some chapters.

As far as visuals go, The DeLuca Family is excellent, and the animation is of a high level of graphic quality and fluidity. Despite how much better and more capable graphics have become in recent years, it holds its own since the developer is so good at setting scenes. With its high-quality sound design, this Mafia-themed game will have you turning the pages in search of ever more details. Unlike other AVN, the game will absorb you with its action, romance, mysteries, murderous plots, and more. I'd be completely down with a sequel if it came out since the game is unique.
