Universe Mode in WWE 2K26 has gone through more changes than it has in years. There's a new WWE Draft system, a setup wizard, expanded promo tools, and reworked Money In The Bank mechanics.

Whether you've used Universe Mode before or this is your first time, this guide covers every major change so you know what to expect before you start booking.

How The Universe Wizard Works

Setting up a Universe save now starts with the Universe Wizard, a guided tool that walks you through every key decision before your first show. When you start a new save, you can skip straight to the main menu or use the Wizard to get everything in order first. Using it is worth doing even if you're familiar with the mode, since it saves time you'd otherwise spend digging through menus one by one.

Through the Wizard, you choose your weekly shows and Premium Live Events, assign superstars and champions to specific brands, and pick a starting month on the in-game calendar. For default brands like Raw and SmackDown, you also get access to deeper roster editing, championship assignment, and division support options. Each show can hold up to eight championships across men's, women's, tag team, and intergender titles, and two Money In The Bank briefcases can be active on a show at the same time. If you want to go beyond the defaults, you can import a downloaded show, edit an existing one, or build a brand from scratch.

How The WWE Draft Works

The WWE Draft is the biggest addition to Universe Mode this year. For the first time in the series, you can officially move superstars between show rosters during a dedicated draft week. Draft events take up a full in-game week and can be created, edited, or removed from the calendar directly.

When setting up a draft, you can give the event a custom name and logo, choose two participating shows, bring in supplemental brands like NXT as optional pools to draft from, set rules around which superstars are and aren't eligible, and choose how many rounds to run, up to a maximum of eight. Each round takes up a match slot on the card, so how you build your card around the draft picks is part of the planning process.

One thing to know about supplemental brands: NXT and similar brands are optional pools that Raw or SmackDown can pull from, but they don't receive picks back unless you set it up that way yourself.

What Changed With Money In The Bank

In previous games, MITB briefcases were locked to a specific championship, which created awkward situations when you were trying to book things your way. That restriction is gone in WWE 2K26. Briefcase holders can now cash in on any eligible title on their show, not just the one the briefcase was originally tied to. Cash-ins can happen mid-match or post-match through a button prompt, which adds more unpredictability to your weekly cards. With two briefcases available per show, there's real room to build stories around who holds them and when they decide to strike.

What's New With Promos

Promos have been expanded in WWE 2K26, with new types added and a new post-match segment that gives you more ways to build storylines week to week.

A Self-Promo can trigger a heel or face turn, a division change, a brand switch, or a self-imposed challenge. A Call-Out or Interrupt lets a challenger pick the match type or issue and accept a title challenge for a Premium Live Event. An Open Challenge sets up a spontaneous title defense against any available opponent.

The standout new addition is the Post-Match Interview. After any match, the winner can announce a division change, address the number-one contender situation, or issue and accept title challenges. The person who lost isn't locked out either. They can interrupt with a handshake, start a brawl, or hold a staredown, all of which feed naturally into ongoing rivalries. If a losing superstar interrupts with a brawl across multiple weeks in a row, that builds a rivalry arc without you having to force it manually.

Matchmaking Sliders And Clean Slate Options

New matchmaking sliders let you adjust how Universe Mode generates and scores matches. You can tune values for match card sorting priorities, title match bonuses, rivalry weighting, and how much weight specific match types carry. These give you more control over how the game builds your cards automatically.

If you want to start completely fresh without any pre-existing relationships or storylines already in place, there are also options to clear default data including Superstar Relationships, Divisions, and Rivalries. This is useful when you're building a fully custom universe and don't want the game's defaults getting in the way.

What Else Got Updated In WWE 2K26

Other parts of the game received updates alongside Universe Mode. Create-A-Superstar now supports up to 200 slots with image storage up to 2,000, and includes improved body morphing and two-tone hair blending. Create-An-Arena adds LED barricades, expanded apron and announce table options, and an advanced entrance timeline.

MyGM now supports intergender matches along with five, six, and eight-man match formats. MyFaction also adds intergender matches, a Quick Swap match type, Faction Chemistry, and run-in support. MyRise gets two new division-based storylines. New match types added to the game include Three Stages Of Hell, I Quit, Inferno, and Dumpster.

The Ringside Pass system replaces the old DLC model and runs six seasons across the year. Each season has a free tier with 60 unlock tiers and a premium tier with 40 additional tiers, with XP earned across all modes counting toward progress.

WWE 2K26 launched on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on March 13, with special editions offering early access from March 6. PS4 and Xbox One are no longer supported.
