Gamescom 2020 Likely Postponed or Cancelled Due to COVID-19 UPDATED
Gamescom 2020 on-site event has been cancelled
News by Grayshadow on Apr 16, 2020
Public events are being put on hold to halt the spread of COVID-19. With gaming events such as E3 being outright canceled. Now, Gamescom 2020 may be added to the list.
The German government is set to announce that it'll extend bans on all major public events due to the outbreak until August 31st. Gamescom is set for August 16th-29th so it's likely the convention will be canceled or postponed.
With Gamescom being the world's largest gaming conventions that draw in hundreds of thousands of attendees each year. Having such a large amount of people gather in a closed environment wouldn't be the best decision. Currently, social distancing procedures are implemented worldwide and having such a large event could cause a mass outbreak.
