Genshin Impact Resin Update Serves Casuals, Alienates Core Players
The November patch caters to those will less time to play.

Genshin Impact will roll out patch 1.1 in early November. Among one of the features is an update to the “resin” system - a form of energy currency that can be used to participate in endgame content like boss encounters and ley lines. Players currently gain 180 free resin each day and would need to purchase more with real money if they wanted to go beyond the limit. However, there is also a soft cap of 120 resin to encourage players to spend it in order to accumulate the remaining 60. After the update, this soft cap will be further increased to 160.
Prior to the patch players would also need to spend 1600 resin weekly to qualify for the battle pass feature, an impossible sum for those strictly playing for free. After the patch, this requirement will be lowered to 1200. This will add quite a bit of relief for casual players. But many of the more hardcore players have responded negatively that this does not help their own dwindling resin supply. Many players picked up Genshin Impact as a single player adventure game, yet are unwilling to accept its free-to-play micro transaction aspects.
