Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red have been hacked by an unknown actor. The company took to Twitter to confirm the news.
The Tweet - entitled "important update" - encompassed an official statement from the company regarding what happened, as well as the Ransom note the hackers left.
CDPR confirmed that alongside the dumping of a large number of legal documents, the hackers leaked the source code for Cyberpunk 2077, Gwent, and The Witcher 3.
They also stole the source code for an unreleased version of The Witcher 3, as well as encrypting the companies servers.
The hackers gave CDPR 48 hours to respond, but the company said they will not comply:
"We will not give in to the demands nor negotiate with the actor, being aware that this may eventually lead to the release of the compromised date"
They have, however, confirmed that personal customer data was not included as part of the hack - to the best of their knowledge.
CD Projekt Red disclosed that they're working with several cybersecurity and law enforcement agencies to determine the source of the hack.
The included ransom note referred to the company's already damaged reputation being on the line, stating they had "epically pwned" them.
It's been a tough few months for the studio, and things certainly don't seem to be getting any better.
