The Dark Pictures Anthology Meets Real World Horror In New Episode, The Devil In Me

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me features an H.H. Holmes copycat trying to kill an Oscar nominee

Herman Webster Mudgett, better known as H.H. Holmes, is often called one of America's first serial killers. In August 1886 Holmes moved to Chicago, Illinois, and began construction on his so-called 'Murder Castle', a hotel that (as the story goes) was labyrinthian in nature; with traps in every room and stairs that led to nowhere. Between 1891 and 1894 he is thought to have killed at least nine people, however, the exact figure is unknown.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me is the fourth game in Supermassive's narrative-driven horror franchise and the final episode of season one. The Devil In Me (which takes its title from an H.H. Holmes quote) sees a television crew from Lonnit Entertainment invited to explore and document a supposedly faithful recreation of H.H. Holmes' hotel. Unfortunately, their host Granthem Du'Met has been influenced by more than Holmes' interior decorating and has rigged the building with traps and torture devices straight out of a Saw film. "Observed, isolated, and manipulated like rats in a maze", the crew must solve the 'Murder Castle's' puzzles and escape the hotel from hell.

Oscar nominee Jessie Buckly (I'm Thinking of Ending Things, The Lost Daughter) plays one of the Lonnit Entertainment crew and is the latest Hollywood actor to work with Supermassive Games. X-Men actor Shawn Ashmore, Maze Runner actor Will Poulter and High School Musical alumni Ashley Tisdale have all appeared in previous episodes of The Dark Pictures Anthology.

It has also been announced that Bandai Namco Store customers in the United States and Canada will be able to purchase the Animatronic Collector's Edition of The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me this summer. Inside they will find an 11cm animatronic bust figurine; an exclusive postcard and envelope; Lonnit Entertainment business card; and a map of Hotel Island, The Devil In Me's setting.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil In Me releases on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in Autumn 2022.
