It's a good time to be an Assassin's Creed fan, as Ubisoft currently has quite a few projects in the works, all based on the developers famed stealth game series. One of these titles is Assassin's Creed Nexus, a brand-new VR title, which seemingly will see the return of some of the series' iconic characters such as Ezio from Assassin's Creed 1, Connor from Assassin's Creed 3, and Kassandra from Assassin's Creed Odyssey. All of which will be playable characters.
What we know about Assassin's Creed Nexus, which as far as we know is simply a codename for the project, isn't much. We first learned about the title through the brief teaser that was shown off at the Meta Showcase. Despite Ubisoft's attempts at keeping the project under wraps, it is probably more well known as one of the company's worst kept secrets, as there were rumors about the game circulating online months before the showcase.
The game is one of the many announced Assassin's Creed projects currently in the works, which include Assassin's Creed Mirage, Assassin's Creed Jade, Assassin's Creed Red, and Assassin's Creed Hexe. While all these titles have had their fair share of spotlight, Nexus has sadly fallen to the waist side, but it would seem that it is now it's time to shine.
In a post shared on the Access The Animus Twitter account, we can see some teaser images that seem to include something rather interesting. Within these images we can see strings of binary code which translate to "Fetching memory data genetic memory string 0X".
For those of you who don't know, Access The Animus is a fan account that delves deep into the Assassin's Creed series and is composed of TheEagleBearer, Sky, Dwarf, L3vinu, and Pascalpalace, who all came together to decipher the cryptic code. Along with the uncovered message, they have also discovered a string of numbers that translate to birthdays, which coincides with the birthdates of the characters Ezio, Connor, and Kassandra.
This likely means that we will get a chance to once again play as these characters. However, this could also just be a complete coincidence and the string of numbers could mean something else entirely. It is still very likely that we will play as these characters as one of the biggest rumors about Assassin's Creed Nexus is that we will play as protagonists from previous games. We will most likely learn more at the Upcoming Ubisoft Forward.
