A Latest Update Let's You Hide Games on Steam

Feeling shy? No worries, now you can hide the games you don’t want anyone else with the new Steam update.

It has been at least some years since Steam started adding up adult-themed games to its stores. While it's considered a questionable choice, it ended up actually helping Steam reach more audiences with NSFW games, because before Steam, not many developers could publish their games on solid ground. Although these sorta games make quite the library of current Steam, they are nowhere to be found if you happen to set your Steam to safe mode.

Since there is quite a big follower base for adult-themed games, it can be uneasy to play those games on your own account, since all of the people in your Steam friends list can easily see you playing “the games you shouldn’t be playing on” on that account. The previous solution used to be opening up a new Steam account and playing those games without letting their friends know. However, Valve came up with a new solution to this certain problem a few months ago by adding the “Private Game” tag on any game you’d like.

This would ultimately hide away the game from your own library, but you could be still seen as playing the game. Steam’s activity tab also shows if you happen to first play a game or get achievements for that game to everyone, so there was no escape if you got yourself an adult game to play. Now that the hiding games feature for Steam is here, you can easily enjoy any game without letting everyone know. It doesn’t have to be an adult game either, so hooray!

Now you can hide your games by simply right-clicking on the game, hovering over the manage, and clicking on "Hide this game." The feature comes with its own downsides though, if you choose to hide a game from your library, the achievements you unlocked in that game cannot be shown to anyone, this includes your profile as well. Still, it is a great feature to be finally implemented after being in the beta state for the past few months. Hiding games isn’t the only feature that Steam added with the latest update though.

Users can now buy multiple instances of the same game to send as a gift, therefore making purchasing mass gifts a really easy process. You can also tag the game as hidden before it gets added to your account. As stated earlier, purchases you make on Steam appear on the activity tab, so tagging it as a hidden game before the purchase is a neat way to improve buying certain games. Oh also, tagging a game hidden also hides it in the family share, therefore you do not have to explain to your friend where that odd-looking game came from.

Steam still continues to be the right place for many gamers with its user-friendly approach to its changes. Not to mention, their sales are bangers too, in fact, their Spring Sale is approaching quickly, it is expected to arrive on the 14th of March, so be on the lookout.
