More companies decide not to attend GDC 2020

Sony, Facebook, Kojima Productions, and now Microsoft and Epic Games have pulled out of GDC 2020. All citing the coronavirus being the reason.
Microsoft made the announcement today and Epic Games followed. After, Unity and Iron Galaxy Studios also confirmed they won't be attending.
Here at Epic we were excited about participating in GDC 2020. Regrettably, uncertainty around health concerns has made it unviable to send our employees, and so we have made the difficult decision to withdraw attendance.

Stay tuned for Epic news and more through other channels.
As you’ve probably heard by now, a lot of game companies have canceled travel to GDC this year due to concerns about Coronavirus / COVID-19. Based upon our desire to put everyone’s safety first, we have also made the decision to officially pull out of GDC.

With so many big names leaving the event I wonder if E3 will be next. The virus has had some serious effects on the gaming industry. Such as The Outer Worlds for the Switch being delayed and companies like EA advising their employees to avoid unnecessary traveling.
