ATLUS Revealing Persona 6 After Several Switch 2 Port Releases

ReFantazio is likely headed to Switch 2 after June, while fans still await the elusive Persona 6 announcement.

RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army will be one of the first ATLUS games available for the new Nintendo Switch 2. It will be released on June 5, 2025, the same day that the Switch 2 is released. Even though this news came after the recent Switch 2 Direct, ATLUS released a new trailer confirming RAIDOU's return in remastered form.

Notably, the remaster's Switch 2 version wasn't talked about in earlier announcements or ATLUS's "everything you need to know" videos, so this was a big surprise for fans who had been following the game's progress. At this point, it's not clear if the Switch 2 version will get a physical game card version. As of now, ATLUS hasn't confirmed this, so fans who want a boxed copy will have to wait for more information.

As for the other major ATLUS games like Persona 3 Reload, Metaphor: ReFantazio, or even a possible Persona 4 Remake or Persona 6 reveal, were not shown at the Switch 2 Direct, despite rumors that they would be. Many fans were confused by this, especially since these games have been strongly linked to multiplatform launches.

There may be a strategic reason for this, though. ATLUS may have purposely held off on these announcements so that RAIDOU Remastered, which was a timed exclusive and the first ATLUS game for the Switch 2, would get all the attention. Since RAIDOU Remastered comes out on the first day the console is available, it makes sense for ATLUS to make it stand out instead of hiding it behind a bunch of other big announcements.

Not only does the RAIDOU Remastered come out at the perfect time, but Summer Game Fest starts the very next day, the day after the Switch 2. There has been talk that ATLUS might be saving their biggest news for the event, like a Persona 6 reveal or new platform ports of Metaphor: ReFantazio and Persona 3 Reload.

These announcements are likely to happen at the Xbox Games Showcase, which is set to happen around June 7 or June 8. ATLUS has used Xbox's presentations in the past, which could be because they have ongoing marketing deals with Microsoft. If ATLUS and Xbox still work together on marketing, any big announcements like Persona 6 could happen during that show.

Fans thought that ATLUS might be saving ports of Persona 3 Reload or Metaphor: ReFantazio for a Nintendo Direct in June. Nintendo usually holds a summer showcase during the E3 season, even though E3 has ended, and ATLUS is often a part of these Directs.

RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army

Based on how well previous Persona games did on Nintendo systems, it looks like both Reload and Metaphor will be ported to Switch 2. Persona 3 Reload is now the fastest-selling game in the series. Metaphor: ReFantazio is ATLUS's first new IP in over ten years, and it's meant to appeal to as many people as possible. It makes sense to put these games out on the Switch 2, which is more powerful.

Even spinoffs like Persona 5 Strikers did pretty well on the original Nintendo Switch, even though they were based on a game called Persona 5 that wasn't even on the system at the time. This only shows how much ATLUS wants to grow their audience through Nintendo platforms.

Now the question is: When will ATLUS reveal Persona 6? ATLUS has not set a clear release date for the long-awaited sequel. It's been longer since Persona 5 came out than between Persona 4 and Persona 5; even though ATLUS got past the problems, they said they were having to switch from SD to HD graphics.

ATLUS has warned that 2025 will be a slow year for the company after a big year in 2024, but Persona 6 is still their most anticipated game. If it doesn't show up at Summer Game Fest, The Game Awards in December 2025, which is another high-profile event put on by Geoff Keighley, could be another time for it to be shown.

Fans thought that if Persona 6 got a premiere at the Game Awards 2024, it would make sense for the game to come out in late 2026. This would give ATLUS plenty of time to make the game better without slowing down the release.

Metaphor: ReFantazio, Female Character, Persona 6

Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio weren't shown at the Switch 2 Direct, but longtime fans of the game made it clear that this doesn't mean ATLUS is leaving Nintendo platforms. Instead, the release of the Switch 2 with more up-to-date hardware makes it possible for ATLUS to bring more of its cross-platform games to Nintendo users with fewer problems.

With RAIDOU Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army coming out on June 5 and Summer Game Fest coming up soon, it looks like ATLUS is getting ready for a very busy—and maybe even game-changing—June.
