BioWare Shutting Down Social Forums

BioWare announced that they'll be shutting down most of their forums later this month, with the exception being Star Wars: The Old Republic forums.

Mass Effect and Dragon Age's sections will remain online until August 26 and available for read-only until October 25th.

Conal Pierse, who made the article announcing the change, stated that the reason behind the closure is other social media sites.

"With so many great things so widely available, our developers today find themselves spending more time on other sites, and less time in our own forums. And to our fans and players who came to those boards looking to talk to us, it was a great disservice."

It seems like a strange reason to shut down an entire portion of the BioWare website, perhaps something else.
