If you want to play one of the most memorable and visually stunning hack-and-slash games of all time, Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition is where you need to go. While Devil May Cry 5 was quite outstanding, no new installment in this series has been released by Capcom in six years. Supposedly, Capcom would halt the development of this franchise. Even though I was a fan of the show, I never bought into it. I was right about it because Capcom published Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat last year, even though it was only released on Android devices.
Lately, Capcom has taken a lot of inspiration from their Resident Evil remakes and is eager to bring back other popular properties. The Devil May Cry series is undoubtedly among those. We've heard several times from several sources that Capcom was working on a Devil May Cry 1 Remake, but there has never been any official confirmation yet.
Following a post by Vergil's voice actor, Daniel Southworth, yesterday, rumors started circulating that Capcom is working on Devil May Cry 1 Remake using their RE Engine. The speculation community claims that Capcom wants to improve the visuals and revamp the plot while maintaining the original components. They used a variety of camera angles, much as in the Resident Evil 4 Remake. Vergil is Dante's elder twin brother and one of the key villains in the Devil May Cry series, and Daniel seems to be teasing that he is working on a new game.
Even though the leaked page with the Devil May Cry 1 Remake details was subsequently deleted, speculation has increased that something is happening. Maybe it was premature to announce such a thing. Capcom is reportedly working around the clock on Resident Evil 9 and Resident Evil Zero Remake, and there have been reports regarding a Resident Evil 5 Remake as well. Devil May Cry remakes might be in the works, but they won't be arriving any time soon—certainly not in 2025.
However, now that this news has surfaced, industry insiders will be looking deep into what's going on behind the scenes, and as always, we'll keep you posted with as much detailed information as possible. As of late, things seem to proceed according to plan whenever a trustworthy insider reveals information regarding what's about to happen. So, the likelihood of the Devil May Cry 1 Remake can't be overlooked.
Capcom is a gaming giant, and it's not that they don't have the capacity to work on different franchises at the same time. Why wouldn't they explore alternative options, given the success of the Resident Evil remakes? We believe that Capcom made the correct choice when they decided to remake all of their titles, as remakes have previously shown to be popular and successful.
