Resident Evil 5 Remake had been in the works since the release of the Separate Ways DLC.

Every time Capcom remade a Resident Evil game, it became a great success. Resident Evil remakes started in 2002 with the amazing Nintendo GameCube version of the original game. Resident Evil 2 would be the next major series remake, followed by Resident Evil 3 in 2019 and Resident Evil 4 in 2023, followed by the Separate Ways DLC. Resident Evil 4 Remake sold millions of copies and was one of the most talked-about games of the year.
Even while rumors on Resident Evil 9 and Resident Evil Zero Remake have been circulating for some time, speculation of a Resident Evil 5 Remake has just surfaced, and the game is said to be in development for a while and heading for a 2025 release. Capcom is known to design their games carefully and to leave clues for upcoming releases, and they left one of the most important hints that a Resident Evil 5 Remake is on the way, which is in the Separate Ways DLC. After DLC ended, Wesker revealed his evil intentions to destroy the world, setting the stage for what might happen next, and this can't merely be a coincidence.
Capcom has almost always released a Resident Evil game every year since Resident Evil 2, except they took two years to release the second game from the very first RE game. The Separate Ways DLC was released in 2023, and Capcom hasn't issued any official sign of a new Resident Evil game. Yes, there were leaks about Resident Evil 9's narrative and settings, but none of those were confirmed officially. It might just be possible that Capcom had been working on the Resident Evil 5 Remake ever since Separate Ways DLC was released. Otherwise, they would've left such a big clue about the Resident Evil 5 Remake at the end of the DLC.
When it was first released in 2009, Resident Evil 5's action-packed gameplay felt out of place for the Resident Evil franchise. Nonetheless, the remakes' capacity to produce spooky, engrossing environments has been one of their greatest advantages. Could Resident Evil 5's tone become darker and more horror-oriented if it is remade? It's fascinating to consider how a remake of RE5 would improve the game's aesthetics and general tone, especially considering how amazing the RE4 Remake looked.
One of the main complaints was the dull boss fights in Resident Evil 5, especially the Ndesu fight. Players were tied to a fixed vehicle and had to use mounted weapons to shoot a gigantic opponent. Instead of being engaging, the design felt repetitious and restricted player agency. This battle might be entirely redesigned, like the encounters with El Gigante in RE4 Remake, where we had the freedom to walk around and plan. Besides, the RE5 Remake would address one of RE5's oldest mechanics.
If we recall correctly, Capcom is a fan of revealing Resident Evil titles during summer events. However, there's an upcoming Nintendo Direct about Nintendo Switch 2 on April 2nd, 2025. Even though RE fans are hoping Capcom will reveal more about Resident Evil 9 and Resident Evil Zero Remake, if the RE5 Remake truly has been in development since 2023, we may learn about it in just a few months.
