H1Z1 Battle Royale Mod Confirmed

‘PLAYERUNKNOWN,’ creator of the Battle Royale mod for Arma 2 and 3, confirmed that he has been working with Sony Online Entertainment to develop a version of Battle Royale for H1Z1.

He also confirmed via a Reddit AMA that a version of Battle Royale will be available to play on the same day the early access of H1Z1 is released on the 15th of January. However, questions as to whether players will need to pay extra to have access to it remains unanswered. 

H1Z1 is an upcoming survival MMO sandbox game, where the player must survive in a world overrun by zombies, caused by the ‘H1Z1 virus outbreak.’ Battle Royale is a mod that was originally created for Arma 2, and also featured in Arma 3. Players must fight in a free-for-all, and the last man standing wins. It is often referred to as ‘The Hunger Games’ of Arma, but the mod is inspired by the book/ movie, Battle Royale. In the original mod, players para-drop from a plane onto the map, pick up loot that is scattered across the map then fight the other players to the bloody end. ‘PLAYERUNKNOWN’ says the mod for H1Z1 will be as similar as possible to the Arma version, but small tweaks may need to be made.

Mitch Evans, Sony Online Enterainment programmer, says “you’ll likely be in a holding area, then when the match starts, you will appear in midair with a chute. We may eventually have the plane circling until the match starts, and [people] jumping out of the plane.”

H1Z1 will be released on Steam Early Access on the 15th of January and will eventually be available on Playstation 4.
