It's strange that the developers are forcing this instead of making it optional. Having players choose one or the other would've been ideal. Instead, this will just limit who players can choose especially in a game like this where the biggest appeal is playing one of these notorious characters.
Marvel's Avengers has been having a difficult time since its launch. With terrible multiple technical problems, reception being poor at best, unable to maintain a healthy live service player count, and recently revealing personal information during multiplayer games. The PC player count has been barely hitting 1K players and with a billion-dollar franchise with some of the most notorious characters in entertainment, that's dreadful.
The game still has the Black Panther update and the exclusive and negatively received PlayStation exclusive Spider-Man update. However, it's looking like Marvel's Avengers will collapse as a live service experience.
Marvel's Avengers is now available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
