A recent rumor claims that Nintendo fans may at last have the much-awaited in-depth examination of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond at the next April 2nd Nintendo Direct. An insider claims that because of its incredible graphics and creative gameplay on the Switch 2, the game will not only be accessible at the event but also can steal the show.

Initially shown in 2017, Metroid Prime 4 had a problematic development history before Nintendo chose to revive it under Retro Studios. After years of silence, the game was finally resurrected during the June 2024 Nintendo Direct as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Since then, though, no information has been released, leading some people to guess that the game would be a preview of Nintendo's latest console.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Switch 2 Direct

An industry insider, KiwiTalkz Riley's recent claim that Prime 4 will be a major announcement at the next Switch 2 Direct has sparked excitement. Riley, who has met with numerous present and former Retro Studios developers, said the firm has been "keeping their cards close to their chest" and that the game's launch will "blow everything else in the Direct out of the water".

If these rumors are genuine, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond might be among the first clear demonstrations of the Switch 2 hardware's capabilities. Riley makes it plain that we haven't yet seen the game as its whole, implying that a next-generation variant that fully uses the upgraded hardware could be showcased at the next presentation.

This could lead to obvious graphics improvements and possibly a more visually appealing experience than was previously possible because of the additional power of Switch 2. Retro Studios is well-known for optimizing Nintendo's hardware, as seen by Metroid Prime Remastered, which ran outdated Switch technology and attracted considerable appreciation for its visuals. Early adopters may find a great attraction in the Switch 2 version of Metroid Prime 4 should the studio push Nintendo's hardware to its breaking point once more.

Apart from visual correctness, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond allegedly contains fresh gameplay components and possibly multiplayer capability. Retro Studios' investigation of this possibility would not be original as Metroid Prime Hunters on the Nintendo DS enabled online competitive play while Metroid Prime 2: Echoes permitted local multiplayer.

Job ads at Retro Studios have included developers with past expertise in multiplayer shooter design—including work on Halo and Call of Duty. Should Prime 4 offer online multiplayer, it may be a major addition to the Metroid series and a unique addition to Nintendo's first-party roster.

Though Nintendo has not yet confirmed Metroid Prime 4's presence at the April 2nd Direct, the timing seems ideal. Many fans expected a major software presentation in addition to the Switch 2 announcement since February Direct this year was not scheduled. Among Nintendo's most much-wanted games, Metroid Prime 4 is a fierce competitor to generate buzz for the next generation.

Speculation is that major third-party titles, including Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Elden Ring, and Tekken 8, might also be included, so highlighting the Switch 2's expanded third-party compatibility. But should Riley's claim be genuine, Metroid Prime 4 may outshine all other shows.

As the April 2nd Nintendo Direct draws near, excitement is mounting about what might be the most significant look at the Switch 2 to date. Apart from a glorious comeback for the beloved franchise, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond could be the first actual glimpse of what Nintendo's next-generation hardware is capable of.

Expecting big things from Nintendo is nothing unusual, but unless they provide an official confirmation, everyone usually questions these facts. For fans of the Metroid franchise, including myself, Riley's solid reputation and close ties to Retro Studios offer grounds for hope.
