For those of you who are familiar with Fortnite, you’d know it as a third-person battle royale shooter. However, it seems, rather unexpectedly, that it will be receiving a brand new Racing Mode if a recent leak is to be believed. Epic Games is no stranger to implementing new and creative modes to Fortnite, such as Creative Game mode and Zero Build mode, so this new mode shouldn't be much of a surprise.
Past game modes that Epic Games have implemented have been hugely successful, in particular, Creative Game mode. This mode would essentially allow players to have full creative freedom, and was solely dedicated to creating maps and sharing those creations with others of the community. This mode would eventually lead to Epic Games implementing Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), or more commonly known as Creative 2.0. This new version was far more polished and allowed players to build and create more than they ever could in the previous version
On the opposite side of the spectrum is Zero Build mode, which essentially did the opposite of Creative Game Mode. While Creative Game Mode was made for players who enjoyed building and creating, Zero Build mode was made for those who didn't. This mode removed all building aspects to the game and was made to allow players who played solely for the Battle Royale gameplay to have a more enjoyable experience.
Both of these game modes added entirely new ways to play and enjoy Fortnite. However, both of these game modes released quite some time after each other, Creative Game mode was released December 6, 2018 and Zero Build mode was released March 29, 2022 and it would seem we will be getting another game mode later this year.
This information was leaked after Fortnite dataminers came across files that indicated a new racing game mode is going to be added to Fortnite, codenamed "DelMar". According to the dataminers the files indicate that the mode is still in development and will likely be released in the next few months. According to the files, players will have access to a garage, multiple vehicle types and various customization options, all accessible from the main lobby.
Included in the soon to be released “DelMar” game mode are several game options such as both Death and Circuit races, as well many other competitive racing modes. Just like in the game's regular game mode, there are still rankings and divisions. Based on what we can see, it seems Epic Games wants the racing mode to have its own competitive scene.
As per usual, take a grain of salt as all the information we have on “DelMar” is currently unconfirmed, but we are likely to get confirmation in a few months if the leak is to be believed.
