Nintendo Direct June 2026: Predictions, Zelda Remake, Switch 2 Games & Everything Expected

A 50-minute Nintendo Direct is dropping tomorrow, and the lineup of confirmed games, big rumors, and potential surprise announcements makes this one of the most important shows Nintendo has had in years.

Nine months of silence since the last general Nintendo Direct, and at last, Nintendo has officially announced that the event will take place tomorrow morning at 10:00 A.M. Eastern Time—five minutes of announcement, followed immediately by a Nintendo Treehouse presentation for 95 minutes. Quite a bit of time to fill, but Nintendo definitely needs all of it.

That being said, the latest couple of Directs both lasted for one whole hour and did not really do anything exciting. So there is no reason to be disappointed by the fact that this new one lasts only 50 minutes. After all, quality is more important than quantity. However, what is happening today is that Nintendo needs this new presentation so much, and there is no way for them to fail at it.

Indeed, sales of Switch 2 hardware and software have recently become lower, and their stock prices are below those from a year ago.

Moreover, this month Nintendo announced that in September they would sell Switch 2 for $500. It is vital for them now to make it worth this money. Now to dive straight into the details that are set to make their debut tomorrow; first things first, the items that have been confirmed by Nintendo to drop in the near future. Star Fox drops on June 25, meaning there won't be much to talk about regarding the title for long periods of time.

Expect something small, such as the announcement of a new trailer. One thing worth looking out for might be the possibility that Star Fox will come with additional content centered around James McCloud, Fox's father. With Nintendo having revealed James in a cutscene, it seems unlikely that they won't include some gameplay experience for him.

Splatoon Raiders is a near-certainty for the show. We've barely seen anything of this game since its initial overview dropped a couple of months ago, and it's overdue for a proper showcase. The expectation is that it'll get two to three minutes showing off what makes it different from mainline Splatoon, likely leaning into a more open-world structure where you pick a destination and explore that region freely, similar to the sandbox feel of older 3D Mario titles.

Expect to see some crafting mechanics, challenge rooms, maybe a glimpse of the villain, and a full Treehouse play session afterward. Rhythm Heaven Groove is also essentially confirmed to make its appearance in the Nintendo Direct presentation. So far, there hasn't been much marketing surrounding this title, which suggests that tomorrow might mark the point where all the mystery will be stripped away.

According to expectations, the game is set to feature over 100 mini-games, exceeding the number in Megamix, while also containing a combination of old and new mini-games.

The game will contain some progression, alongside multiplayer and rhythm toys. That being said, you should not expect anything earth-shattering from the side content unless you've already been a fan of the series. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is one of the bigger Switch 2 titles still set to release this summer, reportedly in August.

It's getting a major chunk of the show, possibly even an opening slot. The game is shaping up to look like a strong return to the Three Houses style of Fire Emblem, bringing back relationship mechanics and giving you more to do in the overworld outside of battles. If you're a Three Houses fan, this one looks promising.

The Duskbloods is another title expected at the Nintendo Direct, sitting at roughly a 90% likelihood. It's a Switch 2 exclusive and is supposed to release sometime this year, with an October window being the working prediction. The concern going in is that a lot of people are going to compare it directly to Elden Ring the moment they see it, and the discourse around it being on Switch 2 hardware could overshadow the game itself.

Whether or not it's actually good, it's going to be a lightning rod for conversation. Now for the stuff that's been rumored or leaked. The biggest one, and arguably the game of the entire show if it's real, is an Ocarina of Time Remake. This has been bouncing around industry sources for about two years, and nearly every credible leaker has pointed to it at some point.

The expectation is that this is Nintendo's major Zelda anniversary celebration title and that it'll either open or close the Nintendo Direct entirely.

The Remake is expected to be ambitious but not a Final Fantasy VII-style reimagining. Think more along the lines of revamped visuals, some reworked boss battles, maybe a few tweaks to dungeons. A Breath of the Wild-inspired art style seems likely, which won't sit well with everyone, but there you have it.

Beyond Ocarina, there's also word of a Pikmin 4 Switch 2 edition arriving sometime this summer. The prediction there is that it could come with a new story mode following Louie and the events around the Great Ancient Sirehound rather than just more Dandori content. A Xenoblade 2 Switch 2 edition has also been quietly mentioned as a possibility for later in the year, probably filling one of those November or December release slots.

Switch Sports is another name being thrown around, with about a 50/50 shot at showing up. The split in opinion is whether Nintendo brings a new game or another Switch 2 edition. The optimistic read is a full Switch Sports Resort successor set on a brand new island, with new activities, the ability to bring over your avatar from the original Switch Sports, and a release sometime in November or spring 2027.

Regarding the fresh announcements, the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda is definitely expected to see its time in tomorrow's Nintendo Direct in some shape or form. It may be as simple as NSO reveals for games such as Twilight Princess and Four Swords Adventures ported to GameCube, a trailer for the live-action Zelda film along with the cast reveal, or even an early glimpse of what the upcoming Zelda game will be.

Nintendo always shows their Zelda games in advance; therefore, why not make a sneak peek possible, particularly if all 40 years of Zelda's existence can be covered in a dedicated segment. Moreover, there is a chance to get another game featuring Kirby. As you might know, there is a new game for this character each year, but in this case, the prediction does not seem to be a remake.

A 3D spin-off based on Kirby Fighter or Kirby Clash games and made using the same engine as Forgotten Land looks quite plausible since the previous game was a huge success.

Luigi's Mansion 4 is yet another one on the list of games that may make an appearance at the Nintendo Direct announcement during the holiday season. There hasn't been any new main installment in the franchise for over seven years, and people wonder what exactly Next Level Games have been working on all along. In case 3D Mario is being held back until next year, Luigi stepping up to fill the role becomes very logical.

The game will be more mature with better mechanics and improved lighting, as well as new equipment and new characters to save apart from Mario and Peach. Regarding the long shots for this Nintendo Direct, the odds for 3D Mario are at around 20%, and none of the sources that I consider reasonable are predicting it during this event. Even less likely is the next Super Smash Bros installment.

Metroid does have some better odds, especially for a 2D entry, maybe even a remake of Super Metroid. Metroid Prime 4 didn't perform too well either critically or commercially, which is why Nintendo could be looking for something sooner rather than later.

The Mario Kart World DLC is a true 50/50 situation as well. The thing is that most players already stopped caring since there is nothing new that could get them back into the game. New cups, characters, tracks, or at least certain areas of the map could lure them back, but either way, this is something Nintendo can choose now or wait another few years as it did with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The upcoming Nintendo Direct is one of the most stacked events in recent history for several reasons. First and foremost, there are too many things that can actually be shown, and second, we are getting an announcement after nine months without news from Nintendo. So, go in with an open mind and prepare to be pleasantly surprised.
