Crystal Dynamics very recently announced that the new installment of the Tomb Raider series will be built in Unreal Engine 5. While the players may have expected this news to be the first and last thing they will hear about the new game, it was proven that this was not true. Rhianna Pratchett, who wrote Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015), has recently talked about the new game.
While she informed the players that she did not take part in the new installment of this series, she also did not shy away from making a few comments about her hopes and expectations for the new game.
Though she is reportedly very excited to see where the series goes next, she added that she’d like to see “fewer daddy issues” in this new game. That was not the only thing that she expected from the game. She also said that she’d like to see more “sassy one liners” and many things that she could not have written because she believed Lara lacked the confidence.
We don’t know when the new game will be out, but players are hopeful that it will be a hit, just like the other two games. Crystal Dynamics certainly seems sure of this new decision that they have made regarding the new engine, and we have no choice but to trust them.
