Rockstar’s Leak Crackdown Might Have Just Confirmed a Big GTA 6 Rumor

You are seeing how one investigation, a fired employee, and an old insider claims are starting to line up.

Come on, people! Have your daily dose of rumors around Grand Theft Auto 6, if you even care (we know you do). Now you are looking at a new twist where Rockstar’s own statements about leak investigations may have indirectly backed up details from an older insider report. You are not getting a flashy trailer or a big announcement here, but you are getting something that feels just as interesting if you enjoy piecing things together.

This whole situation traces back to a report that covered Rockstar’s response to internal leaks tied to GTA 6. Rockstar Games has a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding the release of confidential information. That is not surprising in itself, but what catches your attention is how specific the disciplinary actions are.

According to this report, Rockstar fired an employee in Lincoln, UK, in April 2025 because they said they shared private information about GTA 6 with someone else. You also hear about a US employee fired in November 2023 and an Indian employee fired in November 2025, both for leaks.

You may recall that late 2023 leaks detailed the story and mission structure of the game's two main characters, Jason and Lucia. In those claims, you are told the two do not begin their journey together right away. Instead, you see separate intro missions.

Jason’s opening scenario supposedly has you tracking a plane carrying a Russian drug dealer. You meet him, start planning a drug theft, get chased by police, and lose the drugs in the ocean, which then sets up a later dive mission to recover them.

You have to pay close attention now because this one’s juicy, as is anything that has to do with Lucia.

Apparently she abandons a baby at a deli before taking part in a bank robbery that leads to her arrest. The baby appears only in a flashback cutscene, yet the claim says there are no children in the playable world. After a time jump, you see Lucia released on probation, with Jason picking her up from prison and bringing her into a new robbery plan.

From there, you watch their relationship grow, with several mission setups reportedly happening through a nightclub hub called Vault. You are not being told this is confirmed story content, but you are seeing how it connects to the timeframe of Rockstar’s internal actions.

You also learn that some of the same sources pushed additional details earlier, around October 2023, before Rockstar even confirmed the first GTA 6 trailer was coming in December of that year. Insiders claimed parts of that earlier leak aligned with Rockstar’s internal schedule, which is why it keeps resurfacing now.

From that earlier insider thread, you are given a list of claimed features and world details. One of the easiest ones to check is the state name, Leonida, which Rockstar has since officially confirmed. Back when it first appeared in leaks, you might have treated it as a guess. Now you see it as one of the points that landed correctly.

You are told the map is bigger than GTA 5 but not as big as some fans thought.

The estimate indicates that the map of GTA 6 is roughly 30 to 50 percent larger, but it is designed to be denser and more detailed rather than simply stretched out.  The comparison often shifts to RDR2, where you experience a world that feels more alive. The leak claims Rockstar plans to expand the GTA 6 map over time.

Speaking of islands, expect three of them beyond the main Miami-inspired area, with one clearly modeled after the Bahamas. When you think about real world geography south of Florida, including island chains and nearby countries, that idea does not feel random. It sounds like the kind of playground Rockstar would build for missions and side activities.

Not every claim in the leak sounds equally solid, though. One part says the map does not stretch as far as an Orlando equivalent and mainly sticks to Miami-style zones, nearby areas, and a western city parody inspired by Fort Myers. Based on other official hints and revealed location names, some observers doubt the accuracy of the limitation. You are seeing people push back more on that specific detail than on others.

You also learn about a fortified city modeled on Fort Knox, said to hold gold reserves that could be used in a heist-style mission. This setup fits the series' style, so it's easy to imagine how it might go. A smaller detail talks about a bike trail around Lake Leonida. The detail may seem small, but it fits with Rockstar's pattern of adding slower, optional activities to its open worlds.

One of the biggest gameplay-related claims says that around 60 percent of houses and buildings are enterable, with some estimates going closer to 70 percent.

Interiors will often be semi-generic with variations, and that non-player characters may call the police if you trespass inside their homes. The number attached to this claim is at least 2,000 interior locations. If you remember how much interior access expanded in Red Dead Redemption 2, you can see the design direction this rumor is pointing toward.

Hotels and motels are also considered rental spaces. You have already seen screenshots and footage of hotel-style locations, so the idea of renting rooms across different cities does not feel out of place. It would provide rest points and staging areas within Vice City

The leak also says that the cover system has been changed a lot to make it feel more real. You can see signs of mechanical evolution in older leaks and clips from previous Rockstar games.  And, another thing that keeps coming up is the accuracy of the city. You are told that the locations, nightlife spots, and street layouts in Miami are very accurately recreated. Rockstar is known for this level of detail, so it makes sense that their nightclubs are very similar to the real ones.

Some people are surprised by the claim that a chainsaw won't be available as a weapon, even though there are rumors on social media.

Longtime fans think that's strange because of the famous chainsaw scenes in Scarface and the Easter egg in GTA: Vice City that goes along with them. You'd think there would be at least a nod to that legacy, which is why so many players are still unsure about the no-chainsaw idea.

The original source keeps telling you to take all of these details with a grain of salt because the game is still being made, and things could change. That disclaimer is important. You are not reading patch notes. You are looking at claims that have been filtered through time and secondhand access.

A developer interviewer very recently shared stories about fan behavior surrounding Rockstar in general. You are told that obsessed fans have attempted to break into facilities, use fake IDs, and even use drones to capture sensitive information about the game.

That adds to a different rumor that GTA 6 might not have a physical edition at launch to lower the risk of early disc theft and leaks from stores. You can understand why people are worried, even if that turns out to be wrong.

You are not getting confirmation in a neat package when you look at everything together.

Instead, you see that the timelines of the leaks, the claims from insiders, and Rockstar's own disciplinary record all line up.  Some of the information seems true, some seems obvious, and some still seem suspicious. But if you've been following GTA 6, you can see that this is one of those times when the puzzle pieces start to fit together a little better than before.
