Once more, a city with familiar names but strange lines is taking shape. Many people are getting more and more excited about Grand Theft Auto 6. The release of version 10 of a famous GTA 6 mapping project has started a new round of conversations. After careful study of trailers, screenshots, and previous leaks, the most recent update changes a lot of people's assumptions about the game's world, especially in the north of the map.

Sources say that this revision is one of the biggest changes to the way things look since the project started. It got a lot of attention right away for both what it adds and what it takes away. The change that people are talking about the most is the lack of the northern tip.

This addition to earlier versions of the map was based on the landscape of Florida, but version 10 does not have it anymore. The sources say that this choice was made after reevaluating the evidence that originally supported including it. Early guesses were based a lot on the real-life map of Florida and the traffic signs that were leaked in September 2022.

But later official materials, like trailers and screenshots shared by Rockstar, showed redesigned road signs that looked like they were just placeholders and not final signs of how the map would be shaped. Since the panhandle wasn't shown in any trailers or promotional photos, the mapping team changed their plan and grouped places together instead of spreading them out further north.

At first glance, it looked like the map had shrunk, but the general size is still pretty much the same.

Sources say that some places that were once in the panhandle area, like Bohemia and Yorktown, have been moved around on the map instead of being taken off completely. Other sites, like St. Joseph and Mount Calvary, are still there, which helps keep the sense of regional diversity.

The northern part of the map is still the least clear, with places like Gloriana still not confirmed. This raises a lot of questions about how far Rockstar plans to go beyond the Vice City-inspired core.

Besides the panhandle discussion, version 10 brings a number of smaller but important improvements. One example is a small change that was made to the Starlet Highway near Port Gellhorn. The sources say that the road has been made less straight. This is a small change that makes the game more like real roads and shows that Rockstar cares about making the surroundings realistic.

These kinds of changes may not seem like much on their own, but when put together, they make the open world feel more real and organic. Port Gellhorn has also gotten some attention, with new homes being built near the Delight strip club. Sources say that this club, along with the Jack of Hearts strip club, is one of the approved places for adult entertainment in GTA 6.

Adding nearby housing makes the area look denser and more lived-in, which supports the idea that Rockstar is focusing on layered neighborhoods over single places of interest. Although it's still just a guess, these changes point to a balance between the growth of cities and the quieter edges, especially when compared to Vice City's busier streets.

More homes have been built in Watson Bay and the Grass Rivers area further to the south. Sources say that this place was modeled after Florida's Cedar Key and that it will have a slower, more exploratory pace. Because there are fewer buildings and more natural scenery in this area, people may choose to do things like boating, seeing wildlife, and exploring the ocean.

The changes made in version 10 slightly change the sizes and locations of homes, giving the idea that these rural areas are being carefully tuned to stand out from the crowded city areas.

In the Ambrosia area, things have changed in a different way. Sources say that new sugar fields have been added southwest of Ambrosia, near Lollipop Ridge, and a water tower that can be seen in official GTA 6 images. Ambrosia seems to be set up as a rough, factory-heavy area, based on the industrial and farming parts of Florida.

Screenshots that Rockstar has already shared show smokestacks, industrial buildings, and biker gangs, which suggests that this place will have a different feel than coastal resorts and nightlife hubs. Even though it's not the most exciting place on the map, including it gives it more depth and reality.

There is a fully modeled Vice Beach Police Station in Vice Beach, which is one of the more interesting changes. Sources say that this building is based on the real Miami Beach Police Department. It was only known as a landmark before it was turned into a building.

It looks like the police officers in screenshots of Vice Beach, which proves that law enforcement in GTA 6 will be more diverse by area than in previous games. This fits with what we've seen so far in the trailers, which talk about a lot of different police forces, like Vice City Police, county sheriffs, and state troopers.

This bigger police presence points to bigger changes in the system as a whole. Sources say that GTA 6 will have more police than GTA 5, which had a pretty basic police system. The fact that different departments are present in different regions suggests that different authorities may act in different ways, which could change how players connect and pursue, as well as how police work.

Even though there aren't many public details yet, the map updates make it seem like Rockstar is making the world more complicated and reactive.

The northernmost parts of the map keep changing in interesting ways. In Version 10, a new mountainous area is added north or northeast of Mount Waffles. This makes the landscape steeper. According to the sources, this unnamed mountain adds to the growing sense that the northern parts of GTA 6 are based on states other than Florida, like Georgia and the Carolinas.

Even though Florida is known for having flat land, Mount Caliga National Park seems to have been affected by real places like Table Rock Mountain in North Carolina. This suggests that the park's designers were trying to create a variety of landscapes.

This focus on height and different types of land could have big effects on how the game is played. Sources say that verticality improves driving, exploring, and task design. Rockstar has learned this from GTA 5 locations like Mount Chiliad. With the addition of more mountainous areas, the northern map may have a different pace and level of difficulty than the coastal roads and urban grids.

When looked at as a whole, version 10 of the mapping project shows a world that is always getting better, not just bigger. Places are changing, proof is being looked at again, and assumptions are being called into question. Even though Rockstar hasn't acknowledged any of these details, they show that they've carefully tried to match up rumors with the most reliable information they have access to.

Leonida is still being put together by the community from pieces and hints, but one thing is clear: GTA 6's map is going to be more varied, complex, and big than GTA 5. There are still parts of the map that are unknown, and new information is coming out all the time. The big question is: how many shocks will be waiting for us when Rockstar finally shows us the whole map?
