Rockstar to Reveal the Third Main Character in GTA 6 and Something Bigger

Even though Rockstar Games has already shared a lot of details about Grand Theft Auto VI, such as confirming that the game will take place in Vice City and featuring two main characters named Jason and Lucia, there is still one question that keeps coming up on online forums and leak trackers: Is Rockstar hiding a third main character?

More than two hours of pre-alpha gameplay video, two cinematic trailers, and dozens of leaked screenshots have shown a lot of what GTA 6 is made of. Even though there is an unprecedented amount of unofficial information, there is still a carefully built veil of mystery. One idea that is becoming more popular is that the story might not just be about Jason and Lucia. What's the guess? There might be a third main character who isn't being seen. It could be someone like Raul Batista or a figure named Kai.

Raul Batista first appeared in photos that went with the second trailer for GTA 6. The fact that Rockstar's marketing materials show him a lot has led to the idea that his part may be more than just supporting cast. He seems like an old master of crime. Could he be a guide or even a double agent working from inside the criminal underworld? 

People are definitely surprised by how his character is portrayed—stern, poised, and clearly drawn. However, there is no clear gameplay footage that shows him in a playable setting, and Rockstar hasn't made any public statements to support this theory.

However, the case of an unknown male character discovered in the massive 2022 leak is even more intriguing. In contrast to the dummy models in the pre-alpha build, this person looked fully textured, animated, and, most importantly, playable. He wasn't just in one clip; he was in several. Developers were actively controlling him along with Jason and Lucia. He seems to have been more than just a background character at some point, based on how deeply he was included.

He bears a resemblance to a man briefly seen in the first trailer for GTA 6. This brief glimpse has led internet detectives to connect him with the name Kai, which was discovered in the original leaked documents. Many characters mentioned this character's private name. Rockstar hasn't said anything about him in public, but some people think he may have played a big part in the story at one point, maybe as a third main character.

Could Kai be a part of a bigger crime network? For example, could he be linked to a Haitian gang that was also mentioned in the leaked documents? His appearance, behavior, and placement in pre-release assets all point to a purpose. Still, making games is a moving process. 

It's well known that Rockstar has changed content in the past, and what you see in early builds doesn't always reflect the final result. Kai may have been an important figure in an earlier version of the story, but he may have been weakened or even removed later on to speed up the narrative or make the game easier to play.

Still, if Kai was taken out of the main storyline completely, a new theory offers a compelling alternative: what if he's not even the main character of the story, but rather the face of GTA Online 2.0? Kai could be the link between single-player and online play as Rockstar gets ready to improve its most popular social platform.

He might appear in an online prologue that serves as a story before players are given full control over how the game looks and feels. This setup would be like the handoff from single-player to online, seen in games like Red Dead Redemption 2's Online mode.

This idea could also explain why he's in the trailer: he's not part of Jason and Lucia's main plot, but he's the vehicle that shows players the next step forward in Rockstar's multiplayer sandbox.

It's still unclear whether Kai is the main character, a guide, or just a distraction. Rockstar is known for keeping things hidden, and since the official release date has been set for 2026, the company has plenty of time to surprise everyone. Fans will have to look through frames, compare images, and go over leaks again until then in order to find the missing puzzle piece.

So, does GTA 6 have a third main character that we can't see? Just below the surface, there are signs that something or someone is there. Of course, until Rockstar says something, it's still a secret.
