Stellar Blades has undoubtedly been one of the most talked about games in 2024. Not only did the game's protagonist, EVE, has a stellar appearance, but the game itself was fun to play. As expected since its launch, the 2024 Korea Game Awards were a dominating success for Stellar Blade. The game recently came into highlight yet again after the Stellar Blade's Nier: Automata DLC release.

Along with the Big Excellence Award, it took up seven other significant awards. While Stellar Blade is technically Shift Up's first major title, the game's director, Kim Hyung Tae, came into the spotlight for his major contribution to delivering several hit games in Korea over the past many years.

Apart from Shift Up, several other Korean game developers and publishers, including KRAFTON, Nexon, NCSOFT, GRAVITY, NEOWIZ, LINE Games, and several others, were present at the 2024 Korea Game Awards event. This event took place from November 11-13 at BEXCO in Busan, and Stellar Blade was brought to attention for its remarkable features, including the development, visuals, character design, and music. It was so well-received that it won two awards: one for Outstanding Developer and one for Popular Game.

This is not the first time that Kim Hyung Tae, the game's director, has been honored by such awards. The five games he has contributed to that have received Korea Game Awards total include this as his sixth. The War of Genesis III, Blade & Soul, and MagnaCarta 2 all had their own Korean awards before Stellar Blade. The Goddess of Victory from Shift Up, Nikki, won last year in 2023. He obviously has a knack for making hits in Korea, but this time, Stellar Blade has been nominated for Best Action Game and Best Score/Music at The Game Awards 2024.

While making a console game in Korea—a country where such games are far less frequent than mobile or PC games—Kim openly discussed the risks involved in his acceptance speech. This is great of him because Stellar Blade would not have been successful without his staff and the industry. Moreover, he assured fans that Stellar Blade will receive upgrades in the near future and that their upcoming game will be much better.

Stellar Blade was really close to winning, but Solo Leveling: Arise took home the Grand Prize. Solo Leveling: Arise was developed by Netmarble and published on mobile devices. The game is scheduled to be released on PC in 2025.
