The Last of Us has always had a way of keeping people hooked due to the mystery surrounding what comes next. All eyes are back on Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann, as they seem to be going back to the drawing board and dropping more teases than ever about The Last of Us Part Three.

Druckmann has always hinted that there's another story to tell in The Last of Us universe, though he's been clear that it would take everything falling into place for that to happen. In his words, the stars would need to align. Still, he has admitted that he does have a concept in mind, which is more than enough for us fans to discuss. And, you know, talking's what our job is.

Druckmann confirmed not too long ago that he's working on multiple projects tied to The Last of Us. But not all of them might be games. We've already seen content like behind-the-scenes showing how Sony helped bring The Last of Us Part Two to life. Technically, something like that could count as a "project", though fans are obviously more interested in actual games rather than just BTS sneak peeks.

That didn't stop Druckmann from dropping more hints again.

He recently posted on Instagram, showing off The Last of Us script book and writing, "Love how the script book turned out. Lots of memories while flipping through the pages. Happy The Last of Us Day. Can't wait to give y’all more The Last of Us updates when the time is right."

Right now, Naughty Dog has at least two projects in development. One of them is Intergalactic, while the other has been in development for more than three years and will approach its fourth anniversary by May next year. The second mystery project has been the subject of numerous rumors, with many fans believing it could be connected to the Uncharted series. But, since we're on the topic of The Last of Us, maybe it could be Part Three.

Factions 2, the long-rumored multiplayer experience.

When Naughty Dog first teased Factions 2, they discussed a cinematic campaign tied to an online world, a full story that would unfold alongside the multiplayer. But since the project has gone quiet, we are putting our tinfoil hats on and thinking if that story can be made into a standalone game or not. Imagine a fresh group of characters within The Last of Us world, complete with their own narrative arc, released as a single-player game. It sounds like something that is very Naughty Dog, if you will.

There's no reason they couldn't include multiplayer with it, too. Even a scaled-back version of Factions, something like a 4v4 setup, could make the package an easy day-one purchase. At the moment, nothing is confirmed, and Naughty Dog is being naughty and not giving anything, and I mean anything, away.

But with Druckmann's steady "drip" of teasers and the sheer demand for more stories set in this world, it feels less like a question of if The Last of Us Part Three will happen, and it's more like when.
