Tomb Raider Anniversary might just be making a comeback, and fans are going loony. If you've been around long enough to remember playing the classic Tomb Raider games back in school, this one will hit you with pure nostalgia. After all, the game's charm is timeless.

Unlike some remasters that feel more like cash grabs, Tomb Raider Anniversary shows real love for the details. It was originally a remake of the first Tomb Raider, but with modern graphics and gameplay. Released in 2007 for PS2 (and later PS3), it already felt fresh back then. Fans bought it at launch, and the game quickly became a fan favorite; that feeling is still here.

Trophies for Tomb Raider Anniversary have leaked online, and it looks like a PS4 release could be upon us. TrueTrophy lists it as a port, and if we are lucky, it could show up on the PS Plus Premium catalog as a PS2-on-PS4 Classics title. For a series like Tomb Raider to be a benchwarmer for so long is criminal. But better late than never, right, guys?

After the recent remasters of Tomb Raider 1, 2, and 3, and with titles 4, 5, and 6 already getting attention, Anniversary seems like the next natural step. And if that's not enough, Legend and Underworld also make up the numbers. 

Why Lara Deserves More 

It's wild to think that Lara Croft, one of gaming's most iconic characters, has been on the bench for so long. Fans of the classic Tomb Raider games have been dying from the long wait. But fear not, Lara Croft is making a return, better and badder than ever.

It's just impossible to replicate the magic of retro Tomb Raider. As they say, "Don’t hate the player, hate the game." Even though the newer Tomb Raider games are technically more advanced, Anniversary has a unique 00's vibe to it. Ahh, nostalgia is just one hell of a drug. This game was ahead of its time in 2007; now, fast-forward to 2025, and you can see why fans are excited. 

What's Tomb Raider's Future Looking Like?

Hopefully, the Game Awards this year might give us some hints about the next Tomb Raider game. For longtime fans like myself, this potential remaster is a dream come true. And for anyone new to Tomb Raider (the only way for you to be new to Tomb Raider is if you were living under a rock), it's the perfect chance to see where it all began. It's safe to say that Tomb Raider Anniversary still has the power to excite players, nearly two decades later.
