Updated Version of Game Dev Tycoon coming to Steam

Greenheart Games, an independent game development studio, announced that their wildly popular game developer simulation game, Game Dev Tycoon, is coming to Steam August 29th for PC (Windows) and Mac.

For those who are unaware of the title, in Game Dev Tycoon, you get to start your own game development company and play through a semi-fabricated history of game development. You basically start off in a garage in the early 80s and work your way up into a giant company releasing triple-A titles.  You get the ability to make your own virtual games, choose the genre and what platform to release on.  As they grow they will get opportunities to move into bigger offices and unlock secret labs, become the leader of the market and gain worldwide fans.  The game will appeal to anyone who is curious about the world of game development and aims to cater for both fans of traditional tycoon style games as well as casual players.

Initially launched in December 2012, Game Dev Tycoon was successfully re-released on Greenheart Games’ website in early 2013, and has received praise from both critics and fans alike.  I myself have enjoyed many play-throughs of this title and have been eagerly anticipating the updated release on steam, as I know the update includes quite a bit from of feedback received from players on the Greenheart Games forums.

The developers have quite a sense of humor, as they are known for purposely uploading a cracked build of their game that had players' studios failing due to piracy (causing hilarious and sad results).

Game Dev Tycoon will be available on Steam on August 29th, with a launch price of $7.99 (USD), 20% off the normal Steam price of $9.99, and in this writer's opinion, is worth every penny.
