War of the Worlds Aliens Cause Detailed Mass Panic

Ok, I put off reporting about this for far too long, what with doing pointless things like reviewing games everyone went to get anyway. Other Ocean Interactive, who just released X-Men Destiny and some ‘lesser’ titles in the past, is currently working on a pretty interesting title, called The War of the Worlds.

No, Half Life did not invent the Tripod. These cats were around longer than that.

Now, I’m not much of a literature fan. I enjoy living in the 21st century, so I’m more into audio-visual media. But I do love history and The War of the Worlds from H.G. Wells has always been quite the intriguing tidbit in human history. For one, the lore about alien invasion is famous for being used in a radio program in 1938, after which widespread panic broke out, because people were convinced that the alien takeover was real. Please check the interwebz for more, because I’m not paid as a teacher.

In any case, the game version from this novel doesn’t follow the book, but tries and latch on to the 1953 film and take its liberties from there, so hurray for me. This is especially great news because it doesn’t really follow the 2005 Steven Spielberg adaptation with Tom Cruise.

We have more screenshots and art if you click the picture. Do it. We command you.

The game coming to XBLA and PSN later this year will be a singleplayer 2D platformer which is stated to “paying homage to classic cinematic platformers such as Prince of Persia and Heart of Darkness.” To sweeten the deal, the voice talents of none other than Captain Picard/ Bullock, Sir Patrick Stewart, have been scouted. We have a trailer to prove this.

I always envision Bullock talking to me, because I'm childish.

Oh, and if you’re interested in more Alien news, Sega has also been dropping bombs with the actual Aliens franchise. They’ve released trailers for Colonial Marines, made by Gearbox Software of Duke Nukem Forever and Borderlands fame. In this, Randy Pitchford himself mulls over some demo details and gushes the nerd factor all over the screen.

I just love mr. Pitchford's honest pitch. Even if it isn't genuine, it sounds like it is.

After that, check out the Aliens: Infestation trailer for good old-fashioned Nintendo DS, out today. And if that’s not enough, they’ve also released trailers for Sonic Generations and Shinobi 3DS, but that’s irrelevant to this article, so subscribe to our Youtube channel and check them out there. If you need more details, hit me up on Twitter or something. Yes, I personally cater to you like some sort of butler. I’m just that nice.
