The creative juices at Kuro Games are flowing as Wuthering Waves keeps getting better. There have been three complete versions since Camellya was hinted at in version 1.0 5 months ago. And she will finally be here in under two weeks—nevertheless, Wuthering Waves Version 1.4 When the Night Knocks will bring more than just Camellya and Lumi.

While developer notes and teases have hinted at some of the patch's new features, Kuro Games has recently dropped an official trailer for the update, which is even more substantial. In addition to the many characters shown throughout the main narrative, quite a lot takes place in this new version.

However, not all of the information on these new features is completely clear. So, let's go over the new features included in Wuthering Waves Version 1.4.

Wuthering Waves, Version 1.4, When the Night Knocks, Camellya, Lumi, New Patch, Update

Several days ago, Kuro Games hinted that this update would bring two characters, along with several features that players have been requesting, some gameplay quality upgrades, and new story content. Players in Wuthering Waves Version 1.3 were left wanting for the Illusive Realm.

As any long-time player of Wuthering Waves will know, the trailer for Version 1.4 begins with a gloomy scene. The gateway to the Illusive Realm, and it's almost certain that this game mode will receive a revamp in Version 1.4. Further, it will serve as the patch's central narrative point.

Lumi

Wuthering Waves Version 1.4 trailer outlines Lumi's backstory and gives a quick rundown of her equipment after a little exposition about her lack of dreams. Huanglong's package delivery needs are met by Lolo Logistics, where Lumi works as a field navigator. She has a whole new character model, larger than Youhu and Encore but smaller than the other female cast members. It appears that her gameplay revolves around her Resonance Liberation and her mobility.

Although her weapon type isn't clear yet, she does appear in several animations brandishing a large sword. A much-needed addition to the lineup, Broadblades may finally have the first 4-star DPS character.

Camellya

Then Kuro Games showed the much-anticipated Resonato. Her voice suggests that she might be experiencing the Overclocking effects or that she may be a bit disturbed. There is definitely something seriously wrong with her, but her animations are perfectly fine.

Camellya's arsenal appears to be oriented around highly acrobatic maneuvers and dancing moves. Her sword frequently transforms into a whip vine to do damage to foes in a wide AoE, and her enhanced state appears to transform her into a full-fledged Beyblade. At first look, her kit appears to be mostly involved with sparing field time in order to highlight all of her insane movements.

New Story Content

After these brief introductions to the two characters, we get a brief overview of the Version 1.4 narrative. Rover will get a glimpse of the protagonist's inner conflicts as they are confined in a mental institution. It appears that all of these characters are interconnected; Rover must unravel the mystery, with the aid of some Illusive Realm citizens, if the roster is to be saved. This is a radical departure from the storylines of earlier installments, such as Version 1.3, which focused mainly on The Shorekeeper instead of a range of characters.

Kuro Games' storytelling techniques have evolved alongside the game's expanding environment and plot, as shown in the extensive screen time given to characters like Yinlin in version 1.0. This version is clearly going to be very unique from what we've seen so far. Some clips from what appears to be Camellya's story quest, starring a younger version of her, were shown to us.

New Weapons

Additionally, we have received confirmation on Camellya's signature, which is Red Spring, and the introduction of new characters such as Camellya and Lumi. No official word on its impact or statistics has yet reached us, but we should expect that to change soon.

New Illusive Realm

The Illusive Realm is making a comeback in more ways than one, including this Somnium Labyrinth event. In addition, the conventional mode is getting a makeover with new characters, including Encore, Verina, and The Shorekeeper, as well as revamped levels and settings, a Phantom Echo for Inferno Rider, and invisible weapon skins as compensation.

Main Event

Kuro Games elaborates on the version's events in the trailer; the event will also feature several live streams. The first one is Somnium Labyrinth, and it's obvious that this is the big event of version 1.4. Even though it was brief, the preview revealed a lot: up to six different entrance doors to the realm, a new snowy visual blending the vibe of Mt. Firmament with the Black Shores portal doors, and, most importantly, separate character menus for each of the patch's featured characters. Each of these characters appears to have a unique story arc, and it appears that additional expansions and characters can be added as needed.

We also got a first peek at the upcoming Dream Link mechanic, which will add even more variety to combat. Obtaining weapon skins is a major perk of finishing Somnium Labyrinth, which is something that players have asked about frequently. You can also equip weapons to characters who don't use them much, like Gauntlets or Rectifiers users.

Other Events

The official announcement of Camellya's story quest will follow the typical login event, which features five normal and limited pulls and is a highlight of every version. Pinsir Maneuver Warriors is a brand-new combat event, and the following events are an exploration event with the Pioneer Association and Lollo Logistics, a rerun of Tactical Simulacra, the Boss Rush event, and so on. The trailer concludes with what appears to be a sales-oriented event, perhaps reminiscent of Version 1.2.

However, we still don't have a ton of information on how most of these events will function, so stay tuned for more thorough notes from Kuro Games in upcoming developer updates.

This release appears to have a ton of new features and exciting battle events, and that's before we even get into the development updates that hinted at quality-of-life improvements. Given all the new features, it's obvious that Kuro Games has considered our feedback, particularly regarding the Illusive Realm; the version's incorporation of the realm is amazing. Beyond the restricted character releases, Wuthering Waves Version 1.4 is looking like one of the best versions thus far.
