The Wolf Among Us: Episode 3 - A Crooked Mile
It's hard to compare The Wolf Among Us to any of Telltale's previous work, however, so far the series is without a doubt one of the studio's best, but not their finest.

The investigation into a slew of crimes continues in episode three of Telltale Games' series The Wolf Among Us. The rugged detective Bigby Wolf is hot on the trail of a murderer and is stopping at nothing to uncover the truth. The conclusion of episode one left players shocked and heartbroken, with episode two allowing us to exhale a bit as the story continued to unravel.
The split second decisions, actions and their consequences remain in episode three - A Crooked Mile, however, the plot is less exciting and more blasé than its predecessors. The violence, language and coarse storyline that was so apparent in episode one and two is less prevalent, or perhaps players are becoming numb to the adult nature of the series.
With that being said, the jump between episode two and three is less exciting. After episode two, players may not have the itch to immediately jump into episode three, and when finally getting the opportunity to do so, the episode seems to drag with little excitement and even less drama than may have been expected.
As the series is well on its way, with episode three, few new characters are introduced. One of the few is Flycatcher, a janitor who is friendly with enemies of Bigby, but kindly leads our main character to clues helpful in his investigation. Of all the characters encountered so far in The Wolf Among Us, Flycatcher is one that strayed from the imagined persona of the character within the graphic novels. His voice and movements may not match what readers had pictured. The voice actor uses a lower tone, and Flycatcher has a slower demeanor than the one created within the comic books. Such can be overlooked but may be irritating to the Fables super fan.
The most intriguing, new characters appearing in the episode come to the surface as the story comes to a close. This is where the episode becomes most interesting, with an introduction to new villains and more answers to the violent crimes wherein an impressive fight breaks out, revealing the animalistic side of Bigby we've all been waiting for.
Making it through A Crooked Mile is worth the general dullness of the plot just to see why Bigby owns the title The Big Bad Wolf. We see why the Three Little Pigs feared him so, and players utilize his violent tendencies more in this moment than any other part of the series so far. Moreover, a curious character is introduced at the episodes' conclusion, with further intrigue immediately coming to the foreground, bating players back to the series.
It's hard to compare The Wolf Among Us to any of Telltale's previous work, however, so far the series is without a doubt one of the studio's best, but not their finest. Either way, as Telltale does best, episode three ends on a note that leaves players eager for the next episode.
