By combining the characteristics of a good action game and a few strategy games, Incognito Entertainment developed Warhawk - a game that is still popular today, four years after its launch. Now part of the development team that created Warhawk is in Lightbox Interactive, which is producing an indirect sequel/spiritual successor, Starhawk, which has revealed more details on this year's E3. While in the first title the terrestrial skies were the limit, Starhawk breaks the final frontier and brings the matches into interstellar levels.


The player assumes the role of Emmet Graves, a former miner from Rift Energy that was expelled from his community after being directly exposed to energy from space. Thus, the protagonist must face the prejudice suffered by the renegades of society, as well as enemies that want him dead. This is done in interesting and dynamic combats which is very similar to Tower Defense, one of Warhawk's gameplay modes. The big difference is that here you can take the role of one of its battle units and helps his army to bring down opponents.


The action is pretty straight forward and gives an enhancement to strategy games. In addition, any unit at any time can create new databases, such as sniper towers or new garages for 4x4 vehicles. This option speeds up the game and makes the battle diversified all the time.

 


Of course, building costs resources. It is therefore necessary to trace its strategy in deciding where to raise their next structure to not waste them. In addition, you also need to find out what the best way is to get more money. The key is to establish bases in places near the Rift Energy mines. You can also get it by destroying enemy troops and accomplishing specific goals provided by the game. Thus, each player can create their own combat strategies.
 

Those who prefer to adopt a more defensive line can worry about protecting the energy sources to be possible to build a strong army enough to decimate the opposition. At the same time, those who like the Rambo-style combat may, from the beginning, destroying everything that comes ahead.


Players who value winning above all else must accumulate the greatest amount of Rift energy in order to be able to build the Hawks presented in the game. They are key elements that can be transformed into vehicles, much like Transformers. These units can turn the tide in battle because they have great resistance along with an impressive arsenal can be the envy of any military power.

 


Another interesting feature is the ability to carry out attacks by building bases. In Starhawk, when a building is constructed, it simply falls from the sky. If the playerdecides to build a base in a unit where a battle is ensuring, it will cause one of the largest amounts of damage in the game (even if the maneuver is performed against a Hawk). The downside of this "attack", however, is that the power of choice about where construction will take place decreases. Thus, it is dangerous to end up building a garage in a place where it would serve no purpose, for example.
 

The blend of action and strategy will come exclusively to the PlayStation 3, just like Warhawk. The release date however, isn't exactly defined, but will be sometime in 2012.
