Shadow of the Tomb Raider releases in a few weeks and serves as the final entry in the rebooted series that started in 2013. This adventure is much darker than the previous adventures, with a much more seasoned Lara Croft who Trinity has grown afraid of. However, there are things you should know about the game before it releases. Here are 5 things you should know about Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

5. Lara Becomes the Predator

Since the 2013 release, Lara has gone through many significant changes throughout the series. With the first game focusing on Lara coming out of her shell and adapting to harsh environments presented to her and Rise of the Tomb Raider allowing her to flesh out her skills. Shadow of the Tomb Raider doesn't only give us a more seasoned Lara but a deadlier one.

During the various gameplay footages and demos we are shown that Trinity no longer underestimates Lara, instead, many of them scared of her. This isn't without merit as Lara has been responsible for the death of hundreds of their soldiers, some through extremely brutal means, and it has taken a toll on Lara's psyche.

4. Scaling Difficulty

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is giving players ample ways to change the difficulty. Players can choose from your standard easy, normal, and hard options along with tweaking aim assist, puzzle highlights, enemy AI, and hints provided. It's a great way to give those needing an extra helping help during Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

3. Linear and Open World Exploration

Similar to Rise of the Tomb Raider Shadow of the Tomb Raider will provide a combination of linear and open world segments throughout. Players can choose to take part in optional tombs and explore the open hub area of Paitit. Lara can speak to the people in the area, final optional objectives, and more. However, specific portions of the game will also have linear paths that Lara must follow.

2. More Focus on Underwater Exploration

Unlike the previous games, underwater parts will have a much larger role this time around. Like the open area players can find hidden items in these areas where in past games they were limited to straight paths. In addition, Lara can move through the water much better than in previous games. This also means that Lara will have to deal with a lot more hostile creatures like eels, piranha, and other animals indigenous to the area.

1. Lots More Stealth Options

Lara will not only have to take on the members of Trinity but lots of hostile creatures like jaguars. You can try to power through these dangerous enemies or take a more indirect approach. To remain hidden Lara has adapted a lot more stealth options such as covering herself in the dirt to hide her scent. Lara can also use walls covered in foliage to hide or for weeding out the Trinity soldiers. If you want to show your enemies why they should fear you Lara can hang enemies from trees like Connor from Assassin's Creed III.
