Get the Sword and Advance the Plot

First, play through the game until the story asks you to fight the Final Boss. Do not face the boss yet. Instead you need to go out and get the Legendary Sword.

Once you have this weapon you can go on with the story. You will need to complete the quests for the Age of Budding, the Age of Magic, and the Age of Reconstruction in The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.

Keep following the plot until you bring the story into the Age of Safekeeping. At this point, the game will tell you to look for the item. To find it, head over to the castle. Walk into the room on the left side. You will find Mao's Pendant sitting right inside that room.
