In CODE VEIN II, your Jail is a piece of equipment used mainly to gain Ichor and help you resist being knocked down. Unlike weapons, you should not worry too much about the attack power of a Jail. Instead, you should look at the Balance stat.

Why Balance Matters

Balance is like your poise. The higher this number is, the less likely an enemy will interrupt you while you are attacking or charging. If you like to fight up close in melee range, you should pick a Jail with high Balance, such as the Hounds or the Reaper.

These let you take a hit from an enemy without stopping your own move. This is very helpful when you are trying to charge your Jail to get more Ichor for your skills in CODE VEIN II.

Choosing Based on Play Style

The best Jail for you depends on how you like to play. If you fight from a distance with guns, you might prefer the Bats. Since you are not getting hit as often at long range, having high Balance is not as important for you. In that case, you can focus on other benefits the Jail might offer.

Unlocking the Second Weapon Slot

There is a very important reason to upgrade your Jail. You start the game with only one weapon slot. To unlock your Second Weapon Slot, you must upgrade at least one Jail to +11.

Once you reach this level, you can equip two different weapons at the same time and swap between them during combat in CODE VEIN II.
