Control Old Growth Guide | Boss Fight and Mold Location

Old Growth is one of the bigger side missions in Control. Making Jesse go all through the Oldest House for slow down the mold's growth. Here's a guide for everything you need to do.

1. Location Samples.

Underhill needs you to locate samples of the Mold.

Type E is located in the pit below. When you enter the open area, look down at the desk and you'll find the first Mold.

Type B is located in the Bathroom. From the starting point of the open area. Head across the gap where the Mold sentry plants are shooting you. On the right side, you should see a bathroom sign. Head inside and on the right is a toilet. Head into the hold above to locate the mold sample.

Heading down the same hallway as the bathroom and you'll find another desk. With Type C mold growing near it.

Heading up you'll notice a staircase. Underneath it is the Type D mold.

At the Control Point at the top of the stairs, opposite of the opening leading to the main area is a doorway with many corpses. Head in and you'll find the final mold sample, Type A.

After obtaining the samples you can get into the pit. It's right next to the desk where you located Type E's mold. Head down and you'll find some logs from the Rangers before you. Keep heading down and you'll find the 

Boss Guide

Head back the Underhill to get the pill that will make traveling through the pit, and other spore areas, safe. Inside you'll find the entries of Rangers before you. It isn't pleasant but at least you now know.

When you reach the bottom you'll be greeted by Mold-1. The fight takes about 4 seconds to start, don't expense any energy or ammo before the health meter appears. This is a glass-cannot based fight. Mold-1 has homing seeds and a powerful launch attack for each of its 3 stems.

Use the ledge to your advantage, throw and shoot whenever possible. At its last 1/3 of health, you'll be forced from the ground with toxic spores that deal heavy damage. Here you can levitate to avoid being damaged or use your shield to repel the attacks back. Again, you have to end this fight asap as Mold-1 doesn't have a breathing period and will constantly attack. Expel everything into the plant to kill it.

Mold Escapee Locations

The final part of the mission has Jesse locating and killing Mold enemies that have escaped and now spreading the infection elsewhere.

Central Research

1. By the Poets of the Fall easter egg. On the ground floor in Lab 1 by the Shelter located near the cafeteria.

2. In the bathroom on the ground level.

3. On the staircase leading up from Parapsychology's level. Look up to see Mold growing from a breakable window. 

Parapsychology

1. Inside the Chemistry Lab, follow the mold to the creature.

2. In the room where you encounter your first Astral Fugue.

3. Inside Parakinesiology

Ritual Division

1. inside Synchronicity Lab, on the level floor of the first room

2. Inside the bathrooms leading from the Control Point to where you first met Marshall.

3. From the Control Point, levitate to the area above or take the elevator located on the left side of the room.
