Destiny 2's main focus was The Red Legion, stopping them was your primary goal. However, The Darkness was surprisingly absent from the campaign. This destructive entity that causes The Traveler to run and seek refuge with Humanity.

After ushering a second Golden Age these ships, sitting at the edge of dark space sudden activate and start pointing towards the direction where the Traveler's light burst came from. Those unfamiliar with Destiny 1 might not know these ships were present before in concept art for the first game.

The image above shows, from left to right, Hive, Vex, Cabal, and Fallen but the yellow box has been absent. The triangles are there though and while Bungie has stated that the Darkness would be absent from Destiny 2 the game has expansions coming to the game, the first of which has been leaked.

It's likely that this is a new race of aliens who serve the Darkness and have remained dormant. Now that the Traveler has revealed itself they're heading to Earth. This means that a new alien race, never before seen, will be the next great adversaries of the Guardians.

Destiny 2 is now available for Xbox One and PS4. The PC version will launch on October 24th.
