Devil May Cry 5 How to Defeat Vergil

Like in true Devil May Cry 3 fashion, Vergil is the final boss and he's no pushover. After gaining the power of the fruit, a new youthful body, and V he's more powerful than ever. Even with Dante being one with his father's sword. Here's how to defeat Vergil.

The opening phase is easy, Vergil will use a series of basic charges, judgment cut that shoots his slices a distance, rapid slash, teleportation, summoning swords, and a charge with a blue hue that causes him to impale you. Vergil is quick and defensive, the only way to land damage is after a ground pound or quickly after a charged slash. Charge Sin DT whenever you can.

During the second phase, Vergil will access DT and start attacking with the same attacks but with more powerful and faster versions. He'll do 2 instead of 1 ground pounds, 4 judgment cuts, 2 charges, and summon 6 swords per attack. The key here is dodging, Trickster or Royal Guard. You can attack but it'll do nothing unless you use DT.

During the end of the DT Vergil will use his Sin version and fly around the stage. When he's about to hit Dante leap into the air and start aerial slashing to cut down the swords he'll summon. At this point, Vergil will return to normal and resume his other attacks but with more options. He'll use 3, not 4 judgment cuts, 1 ground pound, and teleport more frequently. Like before attack only when you have an opening. Occasionally Vergil will begin to charge his most powerful attack, at this point leave the dome and wait for the attack to execute or you will die. If he summons swords around you, just like before slash them away.

The final phase is much harder as he'll use doubleganger. Take that thing out immediately using DT but save Sin DT for the finale. After Vergil's DT passes use Sin DT to take down Vergil.
