Diablo IV is pretty in-depth and convoluted in detail. For the first several hours in the game, I just kept getting lost in it, game-mechanic-wise. So, after so many hours of playing the game, I've created a guide with tips I wish I had known before. Whether you're a veteran or a newcomer to Sanctuary, here are 17 helpful suggestions to get you going and thrive in Diablo IV.

Selecting the Right World Tier: Diablo IV offers something called World Tiers - a dynamic way of changing in-game difficulty. If you're a fresh player in the game or like to go easy, World Tier 1 is your place. In World Tier 2, players who want a stronger grind and faster progression get 20% more XP and 15% more gold. I find that, personally, it's been a great balance of achievable work for satisfying rewards. If a boss is just too hard, it can always be switched back down a tier using the Kyovashad statue or via the main menu.

Save Higher World Tiers for the Endgame: Tiers 3 and 4 aren't just harder in nature; they are locked until you have finished the campaign and hit level 50. These are endgame activities, which are really good when you want to squeeze out that little bit more power from your character once the story is done. Only head into these if you're ready to take on the toughest Sanctuary monsters.

Tinker with the Skills all you want: Don't be afraid to feel overwhelmed by the myriad options contained within each class's ability tree. Thankfully, Skills can be refunded at will. It's free up to level 10 and stays pretty inexpensive past then. Try a few builds to find out what feels and plays best for you.

Mark the Inventory as Junk: Loot is everywhere, and sorting through it is a real pain. Save time by tagging unwanted items as "junk." When you visit vendors or blacksmiths, you'll be able to sell or salvage many items in one go to help keep inventory relatively small.

Abuse Town Portal: Inventory fills up fast, but Diablo IV doesn't make it much of a chore. Mosey, go back to a town via Town Portal, offload your treasure, and pick up where you left off. This way, you won't miss a single drop that could be important.

Unlock Transmog Options: Want your character to look cool but don't want to drop stats for this? Dismantling gear with a pickaxe icon will reveal its look for transmogrification. Now, you can style in substance while collecting those rarest crafting ingredients.

Instantly Leave Dungeons: Some dungeons are just large, and having to make one's way back to the entrance after killing a boss is seriously frustrating. Luckily, the map can transport you instantly to the dungeon's entrance. Talk about a lifesaver when you need to move on to the next experience.

Elite Enemy Modifiers: Ever been out of nowhere engulfed in fire, running like a madman? These are the elite enemy modifiers in action. Note the colored icons above their heads and the descriptions beneath their health bars. Recognizing those will be the factor in the difference between emerging victoriously or being sent to a disappointing defeat.

Master Boss Mechanics: Boss fights are tough yet doable, provided you understand two things - their stun meter and health potions. You can fill the stun meter with elemental or debuff effects to deal gigantic damage. Red diamonds on their health bar will also indicate that they can drop potions and organize aggression around those.

Make Use of Potions to the Fullest: If you are at full potion capacity but see spares lying around, drink one to heal up and grab the extra. This is an easy trick that makes you always ready for battle.

Improve Your Potions: Potions are your lifeline, and you can upgrade their potency at the Alchemist as you progress. Keep tapping that potion icon with an arrow going up the symbol, which means there is an available upgrade. Better potions often make the difference in more grueling fights.

Expand Potion Capacity: More Renown in regions like Fractured Peaks yields rewards, including more potion slots. Explore the world thoroughly, do the side quests, conquer dungeons for Renown, and claim the rewards using all your characters.

Hunt for Treasure Goblins: These are really elusive creatures but drop great items and heaps of gold. They are hard to kill since they have high health and like to run away, but it is worth it. Use stuns or some form of crowd control to keep them in place.

Clean strongholds out for massive rewards: These are challenging but rewarding activities that unlock new towns, teleportation points, and dungeons. Each stronghold changes the surrounding landscape, providing a discovery hub and act center for new quests. Conquering them will be a key part of progressing through the world of Diablo IV.

Purveyors of Curiosities: Looking for a chance to get some unconventional equipment? Spend your Murmuring Obols at the Purveyor of Curiosities. These merchants sell randomized goods, and yes, it's a gamble, but perhaps very well worth the risk. Obols will reward those who complete activities in public spaces and dungeons, which can be earned that way, so be on the lookout.

Open Silent Chests: With Whispering Keys Silent Chests full of treasure can be found scattered all over the world but will need to be unlocked with Whispering Keys. Stock up on keys from Purveyors of Curiosities so you can be ready whenever you stumble upon those treasures in secret.

Extract and Imprint Legendary Aspects: Legendary artifacts fundamentally change how your character feels about playing. When you find any gear with effects that feel cool to you, extract the aspect at an Occultist to save for later. Then, you can ping that trait into better gear, enabling yourself to become strong and grow in number.
