As you play Hollow Knight: Silksong, the Swift Step skill makes your movement much faster and lets you go farther. This improved movement allows you to navigate the game world more quickly in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Getting to Hunter's March

You need to get to the Hunter's March area, which is in the upper right corner of The Marrow. You have to get through the whole of The Marrow, including the part with the Bell Beast and other hurdles, before you can get to this area. After these encounters, keep going until you reach the red link point at the top of the map in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Navigating Hunter's March

Once you get into the area, Hunter's March mostly takes a straight line. Fight your way through the area by taking on the needed boss and other enemies. Make your way through the area until you reach the right side. You'll encounter various rooms and passages along the way that lead to your goal.

Finding the Swift Step Room

Hunter's March will lead you to a room where you can observe air currents rising. The place to the right can't be reached right away from this room, but you can go to the left. Once you arrive, you can choose to go up or down, but going up is recommended for your first attempt in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Encountering The Boss Fight

As you go up from the room with the air currents, you'll come across a boss fight with a lot of small monsters. Kill all of these enemies to clear the area and move on to the next part.

Reaching the Swift Step

Once you're done with the boss fight, drop down from where you are now and keep going down through the various passages. Continue moving down until you can reach a new location. Your destination is located in a section south of Hunter's March in Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Getting the Swift Step Ability

In this last area, there is an Altar that you can interact with. To interact with this thing, move closer and press the down button. When you visit the Altar, you'll receive the Swift Step Ability. With this ability, you can move faster through the game world and jump long distances.

Benefits of the Swift Step Ability

Once you learn how to Swift Step, you'll notice right away that you can move around better. The faster speed cuts travel time significantly, which makes it quicker to return to your body after dying and usually easier to navigate the game world in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
