Early Speculations and Confirmations
High Yield on YouTube was the first to talk about the RTX 6090. He said that it might be built on Nvidia's new Reuben chip. After some time, sources like Red Gaming Tech confirmed the claims, which gave the expected specs more weight.
RTX 6090 will likely be much larger than the RTX 5090, with many more cores, higher clock speeds, and more memory.
Core Count and Clock Speeds
The core amount is one of the most noticeable improvements. RTX 6090 is said to have 256 streaming multiprocessors (SMs), which is almost 51% more than the RTX 5090's 170 SMs.
In addition to having more cores, these will also run at faster clock speeds because the 4N process (about 5nm) is being replaced by the 3nm TSMC process, which is more efficient. Even though they switched to a more advanced 3nm process, the RTX 6090 is still likely to use a lot of power. Theoretically, the most powerful configuration could require up to 600 watts, but a balanced setup would likely need only about 550 watts.
