If you ask the ordinary person about their favorite way to spend free time, in 90% of cases, you’ll hear the answer: playing computer games. Nowadays, both young and adult people adore playing on PC either together or alone. The number of genres of computer games is huge, but today we’ll discuss those with a space storyline. The recent advancements in aerospace engineering and spaceflight made people remember about space games. Although, to say that they became popular recently is to lie. Gamers from all over the world have been enjoying space games since the very start of the gaming industry.

We can’t travel to space yet, but why can't we take advantage of our computers? Those who have VR headsets may create and enjoy immersive experiences. But since the number of people who have these tools is low, we’d better focus on computer games. We must admit that it was rather difficult to choose the best space games: there is a whole universe of PC games about adventures in space. However, we hope we succeeded.

If you decided to play computer games, you did nothing wrong. Several decades earlier, the public was against this entertainment, whereas now, more and more experts speak about the transformative power of PC games. Are you ready to dive into the space world and find out a lot of new things?

1. Kerbal Space Program

It’s a video game series consisting of 2 games, but the second one is to be released soon. Gamers got acquainted with KSP in 2011 and fell in love with it after the first few hours of playing. It’s a simulation video game; the events take place in a fictional universe. You play for Kerbals, participating in a new space program. You build your own launch vehicles and rockets, test and launch them to perform important research tasks and missions. It’s a favorite game of all school and college students. They all are waiting for the release of KSP 2 — it will have a multiplayer game mode. You must play it with your friends. If you worry that academic workload won’t leave you free time to do it, order an essay online and enjoy a stunning gaming experience.

2. Outer Wilds

We can’t ignore Outer Wilds because it was listed as the best game in three nominations of the British Academy of Video Games Awards: Best Game, Original Property, and Game Design. Outer Wilds is a comparatively new game — it was released in 2019. This game is an open-world adventure, where you play as a character, exploring a solar system. Outer Wilds resembles the Groundhog’s Day movie because the player keeps to a 22-minute time loop that ends when the star becomes a supernova. You travel around planets searching for a way to break this vicious circle and get out of the time loop. Outer Wilds is available for Windows, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.

3. Elite: Dangerous

Here’s another time-tested and loved space game. Frontier Developments released this game in 2014, and many people still adore playing it, although there are many alternatives. The numerous additions to the game can make you fall in love with it. Elite Dangerous is an epic multi-user game where you’re a pilot of the spacecraft. All you have at the beginning is a small sum of money and a spaceship. One of the reasons why so many people like Elite: Dangerous is a 1:1 representation of the Milky Way galaxy. Playing this game is not just a way to spend time but also a way to get acquainted with the Milky Way’s star systems, planets, asteroids, and other objects. A player can interact with inhabited worlds and even impact the processes in them.

4. Trek Online

It’s one of the best MMORPG games existing now. And even the fact that it has been more than 10 years since its release doesn’t change the fact that thousands of people worldwide adore it. Have you ever watched the Star Trek TV series or perhaps read a comic book? If yes, it’s weird that you haven’t played this game yet. Star Trek is legendary since it’s the first game created on the basis of the Star Trek franchise plot. Events in the game occur 30 years after Star Trek: Nemesis. The United Federation of Planets and the Kingdom Empire are at war. Each player chooses a character and must perform various missions to advance through the game.

5. Observation

Do you love space adventure and like solving puzzles? What if we say there’s a game that can meet both your needs at one time? Observation is a sci-fi thriller, where you’re the SAM (spacecraft AI software), and you have to find out what has happened with your crew. There’s only one alive member: Dr. Emma Fisher. Observation is full of mysteries and intrigues — that’s why so many people like it. Manage SAM to control your space station and do other tasks to solve the riddle.
