The Fallout franchise since Bethesda took it over with Fallout 3 has changed radically. From an over the top tactical RPG with an intricate dialogue system Bethesda shifted focus to a third and first-person perspective found in their Elder Scrolls franchise. Since then the games that followed were critically acclaimed and commercial successes. Then came Fallout: Shelter, announced alongside Fallout 4, the first free-to-play mobile title from Bethesda.
Fallout: Shelter was a massive success, earning 5.1 million within 2 weeks from microtransactions. The game itself had you as a Vault Overseer. Manipulating the lives of your residents to conduct nefarious experiments while at the same time prevent it from falling into ruin like so many before it.
