2020 has had a lot of lows but the video game industry has been soaring. With more people playing more than ever thanks to easier access to acclaimed titles. While obtaining a new-generation system has been near impossible by many, mostly due to retailers failing to implement prudent measures against scalpers, many were still able to enjoy the best games of 2020 thanks to companies like Microsoft offering more ways to play games with Game Pass. With that let us list the best games of 2020 from action-adventure to the game of the year of 2020.
Narrative
Winner: Ghost of Tsushima
The tale of Jin Sakai as he abandons his samurai ideals taught to him since birth and takes on the identity of the Ghost is one not worth missing. Jin slowly takes on the role as he exercises stealth and poison to kill his enemies and eventually take down the Mongols led by Khotun Khan. A master tactician who uses his knowledge of the samurai code and taking over key areas to force the people in Tsushima to work for him for both security and food.
Art Direction

Each one uniquely designed with complementary elements linked to their musical genre. Offering incredibly themed boss fights against a DJ, classical star, boy band, and more.

Ever wanted to know what the personification of cocaine would be? Well, DOOM Eternal is likely the closest you'll get to it. Don't get in his way.
Action Adventure
Winner: Final Fantasy VII Remake
A remake of one of the most acclaimed and legendary games in history Final Fantasy VII Remake takes a lot of risks. The biggest being the story that decides against the traditional remake structure and breaks fate. Deciding to take its own path from the original game and set off on its own journey. It's a bold take that didn't go over well for many gamers who grew up with this acclaimed title but most found the new direction refreshing. Showing that despite playing the original this new version will have something new to tell.
