How to play as Yoshi in Super Mario Odyssey

Yoshi is playable in Super Mario Odyssey but in a limited fashion. Before you continue this article contains spoilers so continue at your own risk.

To play as Yoshi you'll need to complete the game and gain access to the Mushroom Kingdom. Here you'll spot a little scarecrow, throw Cappy at it and a staircase will appear that will lead to the roof for a limited of time. Like Super Mario 64 Yoshi is waiting on on the roof inside his egg. Hit the egg to cause it to hatch. While you cannot ride Yoshi you can possess him and walk around. 

Feel free to roam around and eat apples as they reward you with some Power Moons. If you want to find Yoshi's play area head into the tunnel located at the source of the river from the fountain. Here there's an apple, grab it to unlock a cloudy playground.
