Lord of the Rings: Gollum Has Been Delayed Until 2022

A press release from developer Daedalic Entertainment has confirmed that Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been pushed back to a 2022 release date.

During an interview with Edge magazine last year, the developers had stated that the game was originally scheduled for release sometime this year.

The company didn't state any particular reasoning behind the delay, but did divulge that a publishing partnership with French publisher Nancon.

Speaking on the partnership, Daedalic said they will ensure that the game will:

"meet the expectations of fans of The Lord of the Rings and fully leverage the power of the new generation of consoles."

The press release also briefly discussed The Lord of the Rings universe as a whole, stating that the game:

"will be faithfully represented thanks to the partnership with middle-earth Enterprises, the company that holds the adaptation rights to the novel series by J.R.R. Tolkien."

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is set to launch on PS4, PS5. Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
