DayZ becomes a full, standalone game

DayZ, the popular zombie-apocalypse survival mod for ArmA 2, will now be its own game, creator Dean Hall unveiled today through the game's blog.

Bohemia Interactive, developer of the ArmA series, will assist in the game's creation, Hall serving as project lead.



"This is the fairy-tale outcome for a mod that many would have said impossible four months ago," Hall said.

The mod will continue to be developed as well, however, in parallel to the full game. Details on how this will all work -- though the Minecraft model was cited -- are set to be announced in the near future.
