A release date for Diablo IV, the next-generation edition in Blizzard Entertainment's genre-defining series, has been revealed for 2023. Aside from Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, Blizzard has also confirmed that Diablo IV will be released on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, as well as on Windows PC and Xbox One, as well as PlayStation 4.
Years have passed since the horrific conflicts between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells tore across Sanctuary. However, the planet is still haunted by a malevolent, corrupting power that has not yet been defeated. As a result of Lilith's mortal rebirth, she is now resolute in her quest to retake control over Sanctuary.
The renowned Necromancer, the game's fifth playable character class, returns with new undead mechanics to fight alongside the likes of Barbarian, Sorceress, Rogue, and Druid. An all-new ability for Necromancers has been added, enabling players to dominate the battlefield with more customization of their undead army than ever before. Skeleton Warriors, fast-attacking Skirmishers, sword and board Defenders, or scythe-wielding Reapers are a few of the enemies we're going to face in this section. Infuse Skeleton Mages with darkness, frost, and sacrifice power to unleash a slew of spells. We will be able to use Iron Golems to charge enemies and Blood Golems to take health from tanks. The power of their sacrifice can also be used against them.
"To open the gates of Hell next year, "the creative team behind Diablo IV puts gameplay first in everything they do," said Blizzard Entertainment President Mike Ybarra. "They have developed the largest and most ambitious concept of Sanctuary ever. While drawing on Diablo's 25-year heritage, this vast new universe is built around the idea of player choice, presenting a new kind of adventure for the series' fans."
In Diablo IV's version of Sanctuary, every square inch is brimming with possibilities for exploration. It's easier than ever to personalize your character's appearance. There are 140 dungeons and hundreds of side missions for players to explore on their quest for triumph against Lilith's armies and ever more powerful equipment. Sanctuary's global bosses are a constant source of difficulty; therefore, players need to form alliances with other people they meet along the way to beat them and claim their rewards. It's also the first time that players may transform corrupted Strongholds into friendly outposts, irreversibly altering their surroundings.
In Diablo IV, players are free to take whatever nonlinear route they choose, and there is no reward for doing so. For those who want a more linear experience, there are Nightmare Dungeons, specific PvP zones, Paragon Boards, and the Tree of Whispers to explore.
Diablo IV will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in addition to Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. All platforms will include cross-play and cross-progression.
