From arcades to cell phones, Tetris has been around since most can remember; 1984 to be exact. In today's world Tetris can be played on virtually any device, anywhere, at any time. It's about to get even easier to access the classic game.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Tetris. In honor of the anniversary, Ubisoft and The Tetris Company have partnered to develop the Tetris franchise for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
Happy Anniversary Tetris!
Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, says, "We’re very excited to start working with this world-renowned brand, and can’t wait to combine Ubisoft’s expertise and all the capacities of next-gen consoles to create an exciting new Tetris experience for fans," with Henk Rogers, managing director of The Tetris Company, saying, "We welcome Ubisoft to the Tetris family. I am 100% sure they will develop one of the best versions of the Tetris game ever."
Rogers' statement is not a passive one. Here's to hoping Ubisoft follows through in creating a great successor in the Tetris franchise.
