343 Industries GM, Bonnie Ross, announced today that the next installment in the Halo franchise will be called Halo 5: Guardians and will arrive on Xbox One in fall 2015. With the power of the Xbox One, the developers at 343 Industries will be able to ensure "the scope, features, and scale we've been dreaming of for more than a decade," are up to par. This of course means that the game will run at 60 FPS and will have a dedicated server for multiplayer.
Ross wrote on Xbox Wire that "Halo 5: Guardians is bigger effort than Halo 4." "That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what's now a brand new and more powerful engine. Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we've invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take advantage of the Xbox One's hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen."
We had our first glimpse of Halo 5 with Master Chief in the desert, gripping Cortana's Memory Unit, while being approached by a Promethean creature. Will Halo 5: Guardians be enough for you to purchase an Xbox One? Sound off in the comments below.
